Hugely influential songwriter, producer and guitarist and co-founder of CHIC
Nile Rodgers is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee and a multiple Grammy Award winning songwriter, composer, producer, arranger, and guitarist.
In 2023 he became the first creator to be awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy for his legacy in the same year as being awarded a Grammy for his new work with Beyoncé on the smash hit ‘Cuff It.’
As the co-founder of CHIC, Nile pioneered a musical language that generated chart-topping hits like ‘Le Freak’, the biggest selling single in the history of Atlantic Records and sparked the advent of hip hop with ‘Good Times’ and ‘Rapper’s Delight.’ His work in The CHIC Organisation, including ‘We Are Family’ for Sister Sledge and ‘I’m Coming Out’ for Diana Ross, and his productions for artists such as David Bowie (‘Let’s Dance’), Madonna (‘Like A Virgin’) and Duran Duran (‘The Reflex’), have sold more than 500 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide. In 2023, Nile Rodgers & CHIC announced a string of UK shows for the following summer.

Nile Rogers and Chic were FAB!!! Took me right back in time! The set was great with all the old photos. Young and old were rocking along! A fitting end to The Piece Hall 2025 gigs!!! Cannot wait for next year!!! Get some bangers!

This is my third time of seeing Nile Rodgers and Chic and it's a gift that just keeps giving. Firstly, the Brand New Heavies knocked it out of the park with amazing musicianship, energy, melodies, riffs, grooves and more. They really drew the crowd in and made it into 2 headline acts rather than a warm up. Then came Nile Rodgers and Chic… If you are in any way a fan of music, then this is an absolute right of passage. It's not just a collection of songs; it's a journey through the decades, a journey through the artists that lit up the decades and who were moulded by the genius that is Nile Rodgers (THE coolest person in music). But it doesn't end there. His band is jam packed full of top tier musicians and vocalists who take playing live to another level. At times it's like a whirlwind of banger after banger, often several within a medley and just when you think he's covered it all, another one pops out, then another and another. There is some improvisation during songs that never outlives their welcome, rather adds a unique experience to it - it's like he has a knack for getting the song length and content to a perfect recipe. If you want a gig to remember and a truly immersive musical experience, then I strongly urge you to look out for the next tour. Long live the king of funk/soul/dance/melody&groove AND good times. 😎
Last night saw Nile Rodgers/ Chic at Piece Hall Halifax . A great location for a live music event It was a blast back to my 1970 s disco days with the songs from chic , we danced from start to finish . A great set list from Nile's amazing back catalogue of hits had every one singing along . Also credit to the support act The new heavies Who got the party started! Looking forward to seeing other acts here next year.
