About
The Aussie funnyman who stands out as a beacon for PC pushback
Kevin Bloody Wilson is the stage name of Dennis Bryant, a musical comedian who's best known for his bawdy songs.
Born in Sydney, he spent much of his early life in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia working in the gold mines. He recorded songs about those experiences for his mates on a cassette tape and started selling it, which led to putting together his first album, 1984’s Your Average Australian Yobbo.
Since then Wilson has released a steady stream of studio, live and compilation albums and regularly spends six months each year touring at home and overseas – performing everywhere from outback pubs to prestigious venues like the London Palladium.
Without a lot of mainstream media support, his records have topped four million in sales, with several going platinum and 1985’s Kev’s Back (The Return Of The Yobbo) hitting quadruple platinum and winning the ARIA Music Award for Best Comedy Release. In 2019, he released the two-disc 35 Years Of Kevin Bloody Wilson with a selection of his biggest hits including Hey Santa Claus, Kev’s Courtin’ Song, Dicktaphone, DILLIGAF and F.U.P.C.
Many of Wilson’s tracks are known for pushing the boundaries of political correctness and good taste. In his early years as an entertainer, he was occasionally arrested for performing those songs in public, but as times changed, his reputation and cult following grew. Kevin Bloody Wilson was nominated for Australian of the Year in 2010 and he’s now considered one of the country’s living treasures.
In November 2020, Wilson announced a series of UK tour dates for his show F.U.P.C. in October and November 2021, with support from his daughter Jenny Talia.
