About

The frenetic live act you don’t want to miss

Since finding fame with their breakout anthem ‘Bonfire’, The Hunna have earned a reputation for their punchy indie-rock swagger, replete with high-octane hooks and arena-worthy choruses.

Formed in 2015 whilst at college together in Watford, The Hunna took their name from the slang term (derived from ‘hundred’) self-coined to reflect the band’s commitment to always ‘give 100%' to their music and live shows. Composed of Ryan Potter as frontman, Daniel Dorney on guitar and Jack Metcalfe on drums, their signature sound blends gritty guitar riffs, anthemic melodies and modern indie rock flair, drawing comparisons to the likes of Kings of Leon, Foals and The 1975. (Opens in new tab)Like many of their peers within the indie-rock scene, The Hunna’s rise has been fuelled by relentless touring and grassroots engagement, carving their success on the road and forging a tight-knit community along the way, affectionately referred to as their ‘H-Squad’.

Their 2016 debut album 100, featuring standout singles like ‘Bonfire’ and ‘She’s Casual’, broke into the UK Top 20 and heralded substantial venue upgrades for their accompanying indie circuit tour. Upon releasing their second album Dare (2018), momentum for The Hunna meant that they were able to pack out the Brixton Academy two nights running. Then came I’d Rather Die Than Let You In (2020), a tougher record produced by John Feldmann, revered for his work with bands like Blink-182 and Twenty One Pilots. Finally in 2022, their self-titled album The Hunna saw the band mature further, integrating darker tones, sharper lyrics and refined production on tracks such as ‘Fugazi’, while still delivering the big riffs and hook-driven melodies that have defined their career so far.

From packed club dates to festival line-up domination, The Hunna have made live performance the cornerstone of their rise, earning a reputation for explosive, sweat-soaked gigs. They’ve headlined major festivals, including the main stage at Reading & Leeds and Community Festival in London’s Finsbury Park, delivering crowd-surfing, sing-along sets that both channel and heighten the same raw emotion found in their studio work. That energy now evolves in their latest run of singles that arrived this year, following on from their 2022 album. ‘Hide & Seek’, ‘Bloom’, ‘Tough Love’ and ‘Clouds’ are all set to feature in The Hunna’s upcoming EP Blue Transitions (Nov 2025), offering a more introspective and emotionally nuanced side of the band.

  • Brilliant, intimate gig, A Hunna smashed

by PhilH on 09/05/2025Rating: 5 out of 5

This band have so so many good songs, the gig was brilliant, energetic and highly enjoyable, but..... we wanted more, it ended with just 13 songs, no encore and missed out some of my personal favourites, but played classics like Casual and Lover. This band are so so good they deserve all the success they get and they are hugely under appreciated right now, see this band, listen to them, you will love it!! Please, please give us more, bigger, longer gigs ASAP!!
