About
Myles Smith is part of Ticketmaster New Music Breakthrough 2025 – our pick of the hottest new artists you must see live in 2025
Despite not having released an album yet, Myles Smith has racked up millions of streams for his 2024 single ‘Stargazing’ and sold out a string of headline dates in the UK, EU and US.
Born to a British Jamaican family, Myles Smith is a rising singer-songwriter known for his emotionally resonant lyrics and heartfelt performances that blend folk, Americana and pop influences. Growing up in the culturally diverse town of Luton, Smith listened to a broad range of music, from pop-punk to hip hop, and began teaching himself the guitar and piano. By age 12, Myles was performing covers of Ed Sheeran, Marcus Mumford and Chris Martin at local open-mic nights and parties. It wasn’t until Myles began posting these covers online that he began to amass a global audience. In 2022, his rendition of The Neighbourhood’s ‘Sweater Weather’ went viral on TikTok and led to Myles officially releasing the track on streaming platforms the following year.
In late 2023, Myles released several further singles of his own, including ‘My Home’ and ‘Solo’. Both tracks were well received, with Myles’ rapidly growing following finding resonance with his introspective style of songwriting, passionate vocals and alt-country sensibilities. Sony’s RCA Records went on to sign Myles Smith in 2024, giving him the platform and resources to make the leap from online sensation to a veritable touring musician. You Promised a Lifetime, Myles’ debut six-track EP was released in March 2024 through RCA, featuring ‘My Home’ and ‘Solo’ which both now sit at over 77 million and 140 million Spotify streams respectively.
‘Stargazing’ was released in May 2024, becoming an instant success and quickly overtaking all of Myles’ previous efforts to ultimately become a platinum single with over 500 million streams. With its driving rhythm and infectious melody, the new single had all the makings of a mainstream hit, confirmed by its entry into the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at No.51. Written by Myles Smith, Jesse Fink and Peter Fenn, the song was conceived during Myles’ time in Los Angeles, and grapples with the idea of lifelong love and self-discovery against a warm and expansive backdrop of intricate instrumental arrangements.
The hit single set Myles up for a busy summer, spent performing at countless sold-out headline shows as part of his Slightly Less Lonely global tour, which saw him play across the UK, EU and US, as well as a coveted opening slot for Tom Odell’s Alexandra Palace Park concert. Myles Smith also appeared at Glastonbury and Latitude that same summer, and perhaps most pertinently, at the Radio 1 Big Weekend which was held in his hometown of Luton, and marked his first proper festival performance besides Brighton’s Great Escape a few days prior.
Myles Smith’s EP, A Minute…, arrived in November 2024 and cemented the artist as an accomplished purveyor of alt-country earworms, bolstering his discography ahead of another busy year of touring.
