About

Critically-acclaimed R&B and pop singer-songwriter

R&B singer Kehlani got their start in a pop cover group at the age of just 14. Recruited as the lead singer of Poplyfe, they spent the early years of their career performing around the local area before competing on America’s Got Talent with the group. They finished in fourth place, with judges encouraging Kehlani to try a solo career.

A few years later, in 2014, Kehlani took their advice. They released their first mixtape, Cloud 19, which received attention from major publications such as Pitchfork and Complex, with the latter listing it as one of their "50 Best Albums of 2014". In 2015, Kehlani released a second mixtape, You Should Be Here, which landed them a record deal with Atlantic Records and a GRAMMY nomination. Later that year, Kehlani embarked on the You Should Be Here tour, selling out several dates across North America and Europe.

In 2017, under Atlantic Records, Kehlani released their debut album, entitled SweetSexySavage. After the release of the album, they worked on several high-profile collaborations with artists such as Charlie Puth, Cardi B and Musiq Soulchild, and they also supported Demi Lovato on tour the following year. Kehlani put out a third mixtape, While We Wait, prior to the release of their second studio album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. The album went to No.2 on the US Billboard 200. Kehlani released their third studio album on 29 April 2022. Blue Water Road is a lighter record that incorporates orchestral pop, folk and progressive soul into Kehlani’s R&B sound. The album was met with critical acclaim.

2024 saw a more confident era for the artist, as Kehlani became more involved and vocal with social activism. After the release of their dancehall-tinged lead single 'After Hours', Kehlani released 'Next 2 U', whose corresponding music video and merch proceeds went towards aid to Palestinian, Congolese and Sudanese people affected by the violence occurring in their home countries. They released their fourth studio album, CRASH, in June 2024, with an accompanying US and European tour.
