IDLES to host three live stream events in August 2020

Formed in Bristol in 2009, IDLES are known for their intense sound and abrasive lyrics.

The post-punk rockers have released two albums. Their refreshingly confrontational and infectiously volatile debut was Brutalism in 2017. Joy As An Act Of Resistance came out in 2018 and is something of a manifesto as well as their attempt to be vulnerable and encourage vulnerability.

IDLES are unveiling their third album, Ultra Mono, on 25 September 2020, which will include their recently released song Grounds.

Recorded in Paris, Ultra Mono was constructed to capture the feeling of a hip-hop record. Across all 12 tracks, IDLES continue their blunt social commentary, with themes of inclusivity, gender inequality, nationalism, community, toxic masculinity and more.

Ultra Mono also features guest vocals from Jehnny Beth (Savages), as well as contributions from Warren Ellis (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), David Yow and Jamie Cullum.

Ahead of the new album's release, IDLES announced a series of three live-streamed performances from Abbey Road on 29 and 30 August 2020.

IDLES' origins go back to Exeter when Joe Talbot and Adam Devonshire became friends at sixth form college. They later moved to Bristol for university and formed a band joined by Mark Bowen, Lee Kiernan and Jon Beavis.

IDLES are often identified in the punk-rock/post-punk genre but their music lends itself to many genres and covers everything from politics and social issues to personal themes.

IDLES have two albums out – 2017's Brutalism and 2018's Joy As An Act Of Resistance. IDLES' third album Ultra Mono comes out on 25 September 2020.

Ultra Mono will include the following 12 tracks: War, Grounds, Mr. Motivator, Anxiety, Kill Them With Kindness, Model Village, Ne Touche Pas Moi featuring Jehnny Beth, Carcinogenic, Reigns, The Lover, A Hymn and Danke.

Some of IDLES' most popular songs include Danny Nedelko, Colossus, Never Fight With A Man WIth A Perm, Heel/Heal, Samaritans, I'm Scum and Mother.

IDLES are hosting a series of three live performances from an iconic studio space (still to be named) on 29 & 30 August 2020. These performances will be professionally recorded, filmed and live streamed. Fans can purchase a ticket and will receive a unique link to access the performance live.
