About
Blackburn Rovers is a professional football club steeped in history and tradition, based in the North West of England.
Established in 1875 and a founding member of The Football League in 1888, Blackburn Rovers is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the country and has been a cultural icon in English football for almost 150 years.
Rovers, who moved into their Ewood Park home in 1890, won the FA Cup six times between 1884 and 1928, including an unrivalled three times in a row, and were twice crowned Champions of England when they won the Division One title in 1911-12 and 1913-14.
Under the ownership of boyhood Blackburn Rovers fan and local entrepreneur Jack Walker, and the stellar stewardship of Kenny Dalglish, Rovers won promotion to football’s top table in 1992, becoming one of only three clubs to be founder members of both the Football League and the Premier League.
Rovers became an unwavering force in English football, finishing fourth in the inaugural season and second a year later. The legendary ‘SAS’ partnership of Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton then fired Rovers to glory, as they were crowned Champions of England for a third time when they secured the Premier League crown in May 1995, in doing so, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. Rovers remain one of only seven clubs to have won the Premier League and are the only town team to have achieved that feat.
