About

The chart-topping Las Vegas rockers announce 2024 UK dates

The Killers' 2004 debut Hot Fuss immediately propelled the Las Vegas synth-infused indie rockers into the mainstream. Celebrating multiple platinum status across much of the globe and hitting the No.1 spot on the UK album chart, the record spawned a quartet of huge singles, not least the timeless 'Mr Brightside'. For years following the release, the track would continue to dominate streaming and downloading platforms, and quickly established itself as a staple on dance-floors around the world.

Hot Fuss arrived just two years after The Killers' formation, when vocalist Brandon Flowers responded to an advert penned by guitarist David Kuening. The first track they wrote together was 'Mr Brightside'. Soon after bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci joined – and Flowers' former group Blush Response disbanded – the band began playing local Las Vegas venues.

Among its many accolades, their debut album secured The Killers five Grammy nominations. The record's four singles – 'Somebody Told Me', 'Smile Like You Mean It', 'All These Things That I've Done' and 'Mr Brightside' – became global smash hits, and after touring the record across the world, The Killers quickly began work on their follow-up. Setting up shop in Las Vegas' brand new Studio At The Palms with prolific producers Flood and Alan Moulder, the group began to inject Americana influences into their sound for 2006's Sam's Town.

Citing Bruce Springsteen as a major influence, Flowers and his bandmates secured another two Grammy nominations before dropping Sawdust - a relatively early B-side and rarity collection. It laid the path for 2008's Day & Age, a record that mixed more overt pop influences with the Americana of Sam's Town and the glitz of Hot Fuss. Lead single 'Human' immediately showcased this new refined sound, crafted with the help of Madonna and Gwen Stefani producer Stuart Price.

Following Day & Age, the band took a break to focus on individual projects. It would be three years until they teamed up again, reuniting with Price and a veritable who's-who of top producers for 2012's Battle Born. The album became the band's fourth consecutive UK No.1 record, led by the single 'Runaways'. A greatest hits compilation followed a year later, including new tracks 'Shot At Night' and 'Just Another Girl'.

Thirteen years after the release of their Hot Fuss debut, The Killers would hit the No.1 spot on the US chart for the first time with 2017's Wonderful Wonderful. The record also continued their feat of topping the UK chart with each release. Following the album, founding members Stoermer and Keuning took a step back, with Flowers and Vannucci teaming up with touring musicians for the subsequent global run.

By their sixth album, 2020's Imploding The Mirage, The Killers had become a loose duo. After initially scrapping six months worth of material, the pair enlisted a plethora of special guests, including k.d. lang, Foxygen's Jonathan Rado, War On Drugs' Adam Granduciel, Natalie Mering of Weyes Blood and Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham.

In early March 2021, The Killers announced the UK dates of their huge Imploding The Mirage Tour were being rescheduled to summer 2022, with an extra show added at Falkirk Stadium.

Almost exactly a year after releasing Imploding The Mirage, they unveiled their seventh album, Pressure Machine, in August 2021 featuring the collaborative track 'Runaway Horses' with Phoebe Bridgers.

In December 2023, ahead of the release of new compilation album Rebel Diamonds, The Killers announced shows for summer 2024 in Dublin, Manchester, Glasgow and London.

This band gets better and better. They are incredible. The O2 stadium is a great venue. Had a great view although high up and far away, they were dots, incredible dots though. We were perfectly situated to access the O2, we stayed at a hotel 1 stop away. Huge queue getting out which went down pretty quickly. Felt the merchandise was very expensive as were food and drinks at the O2. Street food outside reasonable. Travis were an amazing support band and got the crowd warmed up. Didn't realise I knew so many of their songs. All in all we had a really fab time.

Fantastic concert by the Killers! Absolutely brilliant!

  • A great night! But more 'show' than 'music'

    by Steve M on 09/07/2024The O2 - LondonRating: 4 out of 5

This is the second Killers gig at the O2 I've been to and they do put on a great show. Mr Flowers has always been a strong front-man and he oozes confidence and showmanship right from the outset - when he pops out from behind the curtain to tell us all we're about to witness a Great Live Band! Before we get onto The Killers, I would note that the support was Travis. Like a lot of support bands they suffered from a slightly 'muddy' sound, but it was a great reminder of what an excellent live act they are and how strong their songwriting was (is). They are headlining smaller venues on a tour later this year and I will try to see them. As to The Killers...well, it's a high-pace, high-energy set with lots to enjoy. A lot of their songs are very strong live, and most are neatly packaged into about 3 minutes. Anything much longer is usually because they are bringing the audience in for some participation e.g. call and response on 'All These Things That I've Done'. Vocally the best moments are when the band are stripped back and Brandon belts out some big notes - he really has a terrific voice. But doing several back to back nights is hard work, especially with this setlist and all the energy and commitment, so the band and/or the crowd sometimes take over and he is a bit lost in the mix. Hence the show(manship) slightly dominated the music at times. The set is good (enough) and keeps you interested. The band is tight. Everyone is giving 120%. A backing singer (there are three female singers) even grabs an acoustic guitar and is playing along with some of the later numbers. And looking at the setlists online they change a few songs and mess around with the order each night: the previous couple of nights Mr Brightside was (unsurprisingly) an encore; at our gig they opened with it! That set the tone. I saw U2 at the Sphere in Las Vegas in February. Two thoughts for the Killers reflecting on that, and on last night at the O2: 1. The Killers could surely sell out a 15-20 date residency there, it's "home", and their live product works so well for audiences and venues of this sort of size. 2. They'd need to up their game with the AV/graphics. U2 arena tours 10 or 20 years ago were doing more exciting things (innocence/experience tours 2015 and 2018, for example) and their AV at the Sphere was breathtaking; with the tech available at the Sphere The Killers need to knock it out of the park (and invest!) to ensure the show keeps up with the music. I chuckled when I overheard someone saying in the queue for the tube that Brandon reminds her of Jim Carrey. I have been known to say the same! The hair, the teeth, the cheekbones, the smile...the manic, confident showman! Gotta love him. Both of them. Recommended.

  • Great evening, loved it.

    by Suet on 09/07/2024The O2 - LondonRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was so good, they just kept on giving. It was a shame that the venue hadn't emailed my tickets so we had to go to the ticket office to get the tickets. Luckily the ticketing Cashier was very proficient, so we didn't have to wait long. I cannot understand why the ticket agent couldn't send me the information.

  • The Killers live at the O2

    by Ian T on 09/07/2024The O2 - LondonRating: 5 out of 5

Seen the Killers several times before and although the previous shows were great, this one was extra special. Travis were a terrific support act and got the O2 rocking. Any band that starts their set with one of their biggest hits (Mr Brightside) has confidence and they didn't disappoint. Great music, back to back hits, spectacular staging and effects. If you haven't been to a Killers concert then you ought to.

  • The Killers - Rocking & Rolling

    by Phily M on 09/07/2024The O2 - LondonRating: 5 out of 5

As expected The Killers were brilliant and produced one of the best live shows I have ever seen. The audience had a 100 minute sing and dance a-long to classics from the last two decades. My only complaint was that it was over too soon. I could have enjoyed another two hours but of course that is not possible. Also a shout out to Travis who were an excellent support and got everyone up and ready for The Killers.

  • Just fantastic

4th time of seeing The Killers and this time celebrating a birthday. They did not disappoint. I think you know that a set that opens with Mr Brightside is going to be pretty fantastic! It was banger after banger! We loved it. Thank you Brandon Flowers et al. Also a big thanks to Travis who were an exceptionally good 'warm up' band!

  • The Killers Killed It

    by PatB on 09/07/2024The O2 - LondonRating: 5 out of 5

I saw the Killers on 8 July at the O2. Their support band were Travis who were a fantastic warm up. The Killers played non stop from the second they came on stage and the crowd were on their feet throughout the whole set. Brandon Flower's voice and the band's playing were excellent. The lighting and the back projections were fantastic. This was two bands who obviously still love what they do and this so gets to the crowd as we certainly loved it all. Worth the awful slow train and missed last bus home.

  • Great Night

  • The Killers -O2 - London - 05/06/24

    by Oblomov24 on 06/07/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

The Killers 02 London. Fri 05/06/24. Firstly , Travis was great, played all their best knowns, got the crowd jumping. 'Why does it always rain ' was apt given the atrocious weather downpour of rain in July 24. Killers as usual superb. O2 is smaller than Emirates 22. They are showman, like Coldplay Glastonbury 24. I'm wondering if they didn't play their advertised song list for Rebel Diamonds tour because I think they were pushed for time. Because they bought on Andy Bell (everyone sang to his songs, so good) they then didn't play Pressure Machine (which is the most beautiful of all their songs, ever) - or if they did I totally missed it! Worse still then Mr Brightside was shortened, seemed over too quickly. Which was a real shame. I was saddened by these 2 things. But left fulfilled because they are such utter showmen and do not disappoint.

  • Class act

What a show, just pure class from start to finish, what else can you say about the Killers. Amazing.

  • Outstanding!!

    by Cindy on 06/07/2024The O2 - LondonRating: 5 out of 5

As usual the Killers did not disappoint. Glorious selection of songs from their 20 year back catalogue. Brandon Flowers was on fire , one of the best front men in the business. The band were musically brilliant and nice to have Dave Keunig back front and centre! The whole production was wonderful (wonderful!) GO KILLERS ❤️
