About
The Kentucky Headhunters are an American country rock and Southern rock band. They were founded in 1968 as Itchy Brother, which consisted of brothers Richard Young and Fred Young along with Greg Martin and Anthony Kenney.
Itchy Brother performed together until 1986, at which time they began performing as The Kentucky Headhunters, adding brothers Ricky Lee Phelps (lead vocals, harmonica) and Doug Phelps (bass guitar, backing vocals) to the line-up.
Despite numerous changes to the line-up over the years, the group now consists of Martin, Doug Phelps (who rejoined in 1996), and the Youngs. Over the years, The Kentucky Headhunters have released eight studio albums, three compilations, and 23 singles.
