Pop superstar and one of the finest songwriters of his generation
Sting leapt to international superstardom in the late 70s and early 80s as the frontman of new wave rockers The Police. With their muscular, radio-ready, reggae-flecked songs, the trio lodged themselves firmly in the upper echelons of the charts with hits including ‘Can’t Stand Losing’, ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me’, ‘Message In A Bottle’, ‘So Lonely’ and ‘Roxanne’.
The band went on indefinite hiatus in the mid-80s and Sting struck out on his own, landing an instant hit with his first solo album The Dream Of The Blue Turtles. Over the course of the 80s and 90s, he released a string of hugely successful and critically acclaimed records including Nothing Like The Sun and the massive Ten Summoners Tales, and hit singles such as ‘All For One’, ‘Fields Of Gold’, ‘Englishman In New York’ and ‘Desert Rose’. In 2018, he collaborated with reggae pop star Shaggy on the album 44/876 before revisiting some of his most famous songs on the collection My Songs in 2019.
Over his 40-plus years in music, Sting has sold over 100 million records and amassed an incredible 18 Grammys, seven Ivor Novello Awards, an Emmy, a Golden Globe, four Oscar nominations and one Tony nomination. He’s been renowned for his activism – setting up the Rainforest Fund and working on behalf of Amnesty and Live Aid – and has acted in films including Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Dune and Quadrophenia.
In 2024 Sting launched his STING 3.0 World Tour, including a huge headline show at Lincoln Castle in summer 2025.

Weather was perfect and Sting was terrific We had a great time
Have seen Sting many times since the Police days. Never disappoints, great choice of songs, support acts Girl Band and Germein Sisters were reaĺly good, lovely venue amongst the trees, weather perfect! Good selection of food and drink. Exiting the car park was a bit of a free for all, but realised there was SOME organisation at work, just volume of cars. Would definitely see Sting again, and Thetford Forest.
Great to see Sting at High Lodge, Thetford Forest. Nice to see him locally in Suffolk rather than having to travel down to London. Could other major artists come to Suffolk too, please? As always a great concert by him and his band, with a greater reliance on "Police"songs which the audience all knew. I would warn people there is no mobile reception, so if attending this venue in future you will need to put your Ticketmaster tickets into a digital "wallet"for the barcode to be scanned at the entrance (good practice for attending any "gig"these days). I was forewarned so I was able to do this. The venue, parking and facilities were good and easily accessible.
A brilliant performance and a great venue blessed with wonderful weather Set was 1hr 45m Loads of Police classics and a few Sting solo tunes Surprised not to have more well known support artists- although both acts talented Venue great for getting close to the front without a crush (once passed all the picnic chairs) But Food and drink prices were extortionate.
Absolutely outstanding, the music was fantastic and what a star Sting is. Guitarist and drummer was amazing too
Access and parking good and well organised. Didn't rate the support acts but Sting was outstanding. All the food you could want. Leaving venue worked much better than we expected. Would rate this venue and would come again
Everything about the day was amazing. Excellent venue parked really quick plenty of disabled ♿ spaces near to the main entrance. Stewards were amazing, very polite and courteous. The space at the concert was excellent we sat on a bit of a slope and had an excellent view of the stage. Support acts were amazing, Girl Bandand the Germaine Sisters. Main man Sting and his band were amazing. Sting rocked singing some of the classics, new music. The food vendors were overpriced. Exiting the forest was quick and painless. The stewards again were brilliant. Well done to all. BRILLIANT AWESOME DAY AND EVENING THANKS THETFORD
Sting was amazing as ever. Phenomenal musician. Charismatic, gorgeous, talented, intellectual & a great showman. Staging could be better as the stage isn't in the best place for people to see.
What a great venue , Sting was amazing 🤩, Germaine and Girl Band - so talented ,
Warm weather and blue skies helped compound an excellent afternoon/evening's entertainment in the fabulous setting of Thetford Forest, Suffolk. First up Nottingham all girl trio 'Girlband'. Sounded nervous but after an initial instrumental they burst into action. A tight rhythm section and a great lead guitar vocals set up didn't take long to rouse the crowd. All in all a very impressive start. Next up Australian trio comprising of three sisters. Tight harmonies, instrumentally very competent, but a little bland for my tastes. Then the man himself, Newcastle's favourite son Gordon Sumner or Sting as he's better known. Strangely enough he too headed up an excellent trio comprising long time guitar stalwart Dominic Miller. The set was heavily reliant on Police hits, sprinkled with the odd solo album song from his impressive back catalogue, proved a real crowd pleaser. From a personal perspective I found his solo material, at times, quite moving. Given that he's now in his early seventies, his set was an absolute stormer. Encored with 'Roxanne' and the very moving 'fragile'. Given the current state of the music industry a great lesson to the would be 'stars' of popular music, on how to really entertain an audience, comprising of all ages and tastes. Lots of crowd participation, or call and response singing as others may know it. Long may he continue to entertain, he certainly entertained me. Memorable
Forest live Thetford Venue was easy to find and very good parking organisation both entering and leaving venue .. This venue allowed drinks and picnic chairs blankets so had a lovely relaxing time and not overcrowded - sun was shining so always good!! Didn't choke or feel I'll from anyone smoking weed near us which is a first for most concerts festivals !! Good food drinks on offer . Two support acts were all girl, three piece bands - Girl Band from Nottingham - great lead vocals and superb drummer .. Germaine sisters from Oz - great vocals harmonies.. Both bands had great energy .. BSL signers did a great job throughout too!! Sting didn't disappoint - great rapport with the audience - no chat about anything political !! All main police hits included plus some great songs from his solo career .. his vocals are still spot on .. rousing encore of Roxanne .. If he is somewhere near you - book tickets now !! 10/10 concert 10/10 venue
We had a fantastic evening seeing Sting at Thetford Forrest and even the weather was kind. Great to finally see him sing live and the 2 girl bands who supported him were also very good. Even the weather was kind so a perfect way to spend a Saturday evening in a beautiful setting.
Without doubt a highlight of my year. Sting was stupendous and I felt like I was 19 again. For a three piece they cover Sting's extraordinary back catalogue with vigour and passion. Sting's lyrics, musical genius and compositions stand up, not just to the passing of all these decades, but managed to please new and young listeners too😁 No need to call the Police, they're already in attendance and administering justice and love. Best concert I have ever attended at High Lodge Thetford Forest. Xx
Sting and both support groups have exceptional performances. Credit must also be given to the woman ( sorry I don't know her name) who signed all three sets with huge passion, energy and musicality. So why does it only get 3 stars - because of the venue. We've been to High Lodge many times before but this was the worst. We always take nothing to avoid the security queues - there was no bag free queue. We don't take chairs so we can stand comfortably in front of the sound desk - this time the seating area was far too far forward so less space for just standing and only VIPs ( at an outrageous price) could stand near the sound desk. There were no gang ways between chairs so getting anywhere was tortuous. Good job no access was needed for an emergency! The organisation ( or lack of) at the toilets was beyond belief. As always the security staff getting us out of the car park at the end was laughable. One of our favourite venues has been totally spoilt by getting too big and too greedy.
The outdoor concert experience is great, especially on a sunny evening. Sting gave the crowd what they wanted, his voice has had better days. The screen images were poor a lot of the time., but overall very enjoyable
Easy venue, organisation and of course the main man was truly amazing - he's still got an amazing voice, what a great gig! I'd go again at the drop of a hat - all the police hits and his solo ones!
