The Rugby Championship | South Africa v Japan
Wembley Stadium, London | Saturday 1 November 2025
International rugby coaching heavyweights Rassie Erasmus and Eddie Jones will go head-to-head in London, as South Africa and Japan lock horns at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 1 November 2025.
The fixture marks the first rugby event to be held at the iconic north London venue since 2016, when the Springboks and Barbarian F.C. played out a thrilling 31-31 draw.
South Africa, two-time defending Rugby World Cup champions, are no strangers to hosting fixtures in London having defeated Wales 41-13 in June 2024 at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.
Erasmus’ side have also claimed victories over England (29-20, Nov 2024) and New Zealand (35-7, Aug 2023) in London over the last couple of years, with raucous support coming from the city’s vibrant expat community of South Africans every time the Springboks arrive in the English capital.
This will be only the fourth meeting between South Africa and Japan – with the Springboks winning the last two encounters (both in 2019), following the ‘Miracle of Brighton’ in 2015 which saw Japan’s Brave Blossoms claim a remarkable 34-32 victory at the American Express Community Stadium.
That historic result, regarded as the greatest upset in the history of the Rugby World Cup, was South Africa’s first-ever defeat to a Tier 2 nation and changed the landscape of Japanese rugby forever.
Tickets will go on general sale from 11am on 22 August starting from £55* for adults and £27.50* for Under-16s. Adult Group Rates are available with a 10% discount on ten or more tickets purchased.

Great prices. Super fan experience except getting through the gates. Great seats. Always love a day at Twickenham!
My wife and myself had a wonderful day, the atmosphere was electric and we just embraced our inner Springboks to support with everyone around us...no bad language or poor behaviour just rugby supporters watch a great game together...we also parked on the Cardinal Vaughan Car Park and can recommend this very easy access
It's was a great day and very well organised. It was worth every penny. It's was quick to get in very happy and would go again !!!!
I booked with ticketmaster ,very easy and they kept me updated although. Got advanced tickets booking. Enjoyed the game.
The weather ws perfect, the rugby was fun but not as entertaining as the rugby over the previous few weeks (women's Rugby World Cup). The stadium was easy to get to but the entry process was slow and it would have been good for all atending toknow what was allowed and what wasn't. The stewarding inside was good. The weather was just right. All together a fun afternoon.
Fantastic day out at affordable ticket prices. Only point is that as it was a neutral location, more South African songs could have been played on a try as there seemed to be a Spanish song played on their victories.
