About
The London-based sister duo bringing heart and humanity to electro-pop
Fronted by Sylvie and Sasha Briggs, SISTRA blend ethereal vocals and intimate lyrics against a backdrop of pulsing synths and glitchy textures.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of The Japanese House and MUNA, SISTRA started producing tracks in their bedroom before attracting attention for their debut single ‘You’re a Lot’ (2023). A sleek, shimmering anthem with a deliberate sparseness that emphasises its hard-hitting lyricism, the track that quickly found its way onto BBC Introducing playlists. Fast forward to now, SISTRA have amassed several millions of streams across their two EPs, and are currently working on their debut album with Grammy-decorated producer Jon Shave.
SISTRA’s debut EP The Pursuit of Feeling Fine (2023) introduced their take on emotionally-charged electro-pop, offset by lyrics that dig deep into self-doubt and desire. Tracks like ‘Rollerskating’ and ‘Looking at You (Female Gaze)’ became firm fan favourites, thanks to their blend of cool, digital textures with a disarmingly human warmth. Its follow-up, Between My Shoulder Blades (2024), expanded their sonic palette into something darker, with standout tracks like ‘Tryna Feel Sorry 4 U’ and ‘Time After Time’.
Live, SISTRA have been praised for their tight, atmospheric sets that have seen them sell out headline shows at Colours and Camden Assembly, and appear at festivals including All Points East and Latitude. Industry tastemakers have taken note too, with SISTRA winning the PRS Open Fund, a grant which allowed them to record their second EP at their local Pirate Studios in Dalston. Elsewhere, the duo have enjoyed sustained support from BBC Radio 1 and Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ playlist, whilst racking up plays on Love Island and Made in Chelsea.
Their latest single ‘Things I Really Mean’ (2025), produced by Jon Shave (known for his work with Charli XCX), pushes their sound into hyper-pop territory while keeping their emotional core intact. Stuttering synths intertwine with propulsive electronic beats, layered with liquid vocal harmonies that float over jagged rhythmic shifts. Talking about the song with Ticketmaster, SISTRA explain that the song is about "falling in love, and what that does to a sister dynamic. We’re each other’s number one, but then if one of us has fallen in love, how does that work?"
