About
Porridge Radio boasts an impressive discography often inspired by their seaside home in Brighton
British grunge rock band Porridge Radio formed in Brighton in 2015 and is made up of vocalist and lead guitarist Dana Margolin, keyboardist Georgia Stott, bass guitarist Maddie Ryall and drummer Sam Yardley.
Margolin had been performing at local open mic nights and writing music before she formed the group. The writer says she’s taken inspiration from her seaside home in Brighton.
Porridge Radio released their first collection of demos, Misery Radio, with Eyeless Records in 2015 before going on to self-release the follow-up, I’m Not Sure Anymore. The EP Say Sorry Or Die was released early the following year with the split EP, Hello Dog Friendly, coming out just months later in 2016.
Guitarist Josh Harvey aka Snake Leather joined the group for the release of their first LP, Rice, Pasta and Other Fillers, in the summer of 2016 which was recorded in Yardley’s garage.
Keeping busy, the group were back in October 2016 with another EP called frgttng.
In 2017, the band finally released their first full-length album, Bad Breath, which included new sound samples and electronics. Within weeks, Porridge Radio had also come out with a festive song, O Christmas.
After the departure of Harvey, the band (now a four-piece again) released Every Bad in 2020, this time on Secretly Canadian. Along with the album, Porridge Radio also released the singles Good For You and 7 Seconds.
