Revered for their DIY ethos and compelling live performances, Men I Trust continue to captivate listeners all over the globe with their indie-infused melodies and hypnotic electro-pop soundscapes.
Formed in Quebec City, Canada, Men I Trust epitomise the power of independent artistry in the digital age, carving a wholly self-sufficient path since their inception in 2014. Composed of Emma Proulx (guitar and vocals), Jessy Caron (guitar and bass) and Dragos Chiriac (keyboards), the band have been committed to self-producing their music without the input of a major label. Following two studio albums, self-titled Men I Trust (2014) and Headroom (2015), it was their 2016 single ‘Lauren’ that has been credited as the band’s breakout effort. A breezily timeless track with ethereal vocals and a resonant bassline, ‘Lauren’ catapulted Men I Trust from domestic festivals in Montreal and Quebec, to embarking on a tour of China, playing sold-out shows in Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai by the end of that same year.
Their viral 2018 track ‘Show Me How’ is a perfect example; having been streamed more than 500 million times on Spotify, soundtracked over 500,000 TikTok videos and bolstered countless bedroom pop playlists thanks to its lo-fi production and nostalgic melodies. Featuring tracks such as ‘Tailwhip’ and ‘I Hope to Be Around’, the band’s experimental 24-track album, Oncle Jazz (2019), further solidified the band’s ability to forge strong artist-to-fan relationships (and in turn, commercial success) away from the confines of traditional industry practices.
With their pared-back soundscapes, jazzy inflections and mesmerising vocals courtesy of Proulx, Men I Trust have developed an intimate sound that lends itself seamlessly to the live setting. Having toured extensively, the band have honed their understated yet compelling performance skills and landed coveted Coachella and Lollapalooza slots, and an appearance on Jimmy Fallon where the band joined forces with Joey Badass to perform a rendition of ‘Show Me How’. As well as this, Men I Trust have released a handful of live albums, most recently Forever Live Sessions, Vol.2, which arrived in February of 2025 as a follow-up to their 2020 live compilation, and features a catalogue of stripped-back and reimagined fan-favourites. The day after its release, the band announced their upcoming fourth and fifth studio albums: Equus Asinus and Equus Caballus, to be supported by the Equus Tour in summer 2025.
