Corinne Bailey Rae presents Black Rainbows with Guildhall Session Orchestra
Roundhouse Three Sixty has revealed Corinne Bailey Rae as the latest artist to join the programme of the bold and visionary new festival set to take place in April 2025 at London’s legendary Roundhouse.
This exclusive show at Roundhouse Three Sixty on Sunday 27 April 2025 will see the award-winning singer-songwriter deliver her Mercury Prize-nominated album Black Rainbows in a completely unique format, interpreted by the renowned Guildhall Session Orchestra.
Formed in 2019, this dynamic ensemble of talented alumni from Guildhall School of Music & Drama has recently been making waves in the music world, collaborating with celebrated artists and pushing creative boundaries. This one-off event will platform young musicians in line with the ethos of Roundhouse Three Sixty festival with current Guildhall School students working on the show’s orchestral arrangements.
Corinne Bailey Rae first captured the world’s attention with her 2006 hit 'Put Your Records On' and became the fourth British female artist to debut at number one on the charts. A double Grammy and MOBO Award winner, Bailey Rae has also been nominated for prestigious honours including the Mercury Prize, BRIT Awards, and an Ivor Novello.
Her latest album, Black Rainbows (2023), marks a bold departure from her earlier work. Inspired by the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago – a groundbreaking “cathedral of Black art” – the album explores themes of Black femininity, ancestral power, and transcendence through an experimental, genre-defying sound. This transformative record has solidified Bailey Rae’s reputation as an artist unafraid to take risks and break new creative ground.

The setting of Somerset House was a second contender to the sensational singing of Corinne Bailey Rae. Her connection to the audience was warm and real, with her songs a mixture of exciting, moving, impactful and insightful, linking the past to the present. You've nailed it Corinne.
