ABOUT YAM Carnival 2020
Yam Carnival is a brand-new Afrobeat music festival taking place in Clapham Common, London from Saturday 22 - Sunday 23 August 2020. From the creators of Afro Nation, Yam Carnival is a weekend celebration of the African diaspora, including Caribbean and Latin American culture, with music and food from across the world.
The Yam Carnival line-up for the 2020 debut of the festival includes headliners Davido, Mr Eazi, Tekno, Timaya, Wizkid and Yemi Alade who top the bill in Clapham this summer. Also performing at the inaugural event are Not3s, Yxng Bane, Flavour, Wavy The Creator and more. Join in the celebration with live music from the Afrobeat, reggaeton, contemporary RnB, hip hop, dancehall and world music genres this summer as Yam Carnival takes over London.
Clapham Common is set to be transformed into a food lover's paradise with Caribbean cuisine, Latin American staples and delicious American-inspired options from New Orleans, Creola and plenty of Southern soul food to devour. The African food area is also modelled after the iconic Nigerian danfo buses, with delicacies from across the continent to savour.
Experience the unique masquerade culture including the traditional homage to ancestral spirits, featuring rich costumes, structures, masks and complex dance rituals from regions around the globe. For those looking for a more exclusive Yam weekend - the viewing platform options are perfect for you! Choose from the New Afrika Shrine, the Havana, Cuba stage or the New Orleans platform to see the festival for the first time from these specially crafted landmarks.
Where is YAM Carnival based in London?
Yam Carnival takes place at Clapham Common in South West London, Clapham, SW4 9DE, UK. Public transport is the easiest way to get to the site and there are many transport options available:
How to get to Yam Carnival London:
By Tube - You can get the underground to Clapham Common and Clapham South on the Northern Line service. It is recommended to get home using the Clapham South or Clapham Junction stations as Clapham Common tube station will be closed at the end of each night.
By Bus - Clapham Common is easily reached by bus and you can get the 35, 37, 88, 137, 155, 249, 255, 295, 322, 344, 345, 355 and 417 buses near to the festival site, along with the P5 and F1. The night buses, which include N35, N37, N155, N137 and N343, also run nearby.
By Train - Clapham Junction is the nearest train station serving both London Victoria and London Waterloo lines. Clapham Junction is a 15-minute walk from the site. London Euston Station will not be accessible during the weekend due to scheduled maintenance works. You can also get the Overground rail service from Clapham High Street station.
The festival has no public car park and car parking in the area is extremely limited so please use public transport.
When is Yam Carnival London?
Yam Carnival is a two-day music festival and takes place from Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 August 2020. Starting and closing times will be announced closer to the event, however it will begin in the early afternoon on Saturday and end in the late evening on Sunday.
Is Yam Carnival a camping festival?
No, Yam Carnival is a non-camping festival. However, there are many accommodation options available as it is based in easy reach of the London city-centre, which is a short tube or bus ride away.
What are the set times day by day for each music act?
Set and stage times for each day will be announced closer to the festival – check back here in the days before the event in August 2020.
What’s included in my festival ticket?
General admission tickets include two-day access to the main festival area. VIP tickets include fast-track access to the main festival area and dedicated VIP areas with private bars and toilets.
Can I leave and re-enter the festival site?
Yam Carnival has a strict no re-entry policy once you enter the festival site. If you have a weekend wristband you can enter once each day. Wristbands are only issued once and lost or broken wristbands will not be replaced.
Are there age restrictions?
Yes, Yam Carnival is a strictly 16 and over event, so younger children are not permitted. You will need a photo ID to guarantee entry to the event, such as a passport or drivers licence. You must be aged 18 and over with photographic ID to purchase alcohol at the festival.
Are there cash machines on site?
Yes, there are cash machines onsite and around Clapham in London.
