North London band Wolf Alice started out as a folky two-piece formed by guitarist Joff Oddie and singer Ellie Rowsell in 2010. They played their first gig at The Garage in Highbury. Soon after the duo expanded to a four-piece, with bassist Theo Ellis and drummer Joel Amey joining as permanent members in 2012.
Wolf Alice’s debut single Fluffy came out in 2013, followed closely by the tracks Bros and She as well as the EP Blush. They quickly established a unique sound fusing differing rhythm and melodic riffs with a somewhat unsettling edge.
In spring 2014, Wolf Alice released a second EP, Creature Songs, and by the end of the year the four-piece had been named Best Breakthrough Artist at the UK Festival Awards.
In late February 2015, Wolf Alice’s debut album My Love Is Cool peaked at No.2 on the UK albums chart. The band toured it heavily over next 18 months while being accompanied by filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, which resulted in the 2016 docudrama On the Road.
Wolf Alice’s sophomore record, 2017’s Visions Of A Life featuring lead single Yuk Foo, was an immediate success, charting at No.2 upon its release. Not only did it bring widespread critical acclaim and lead to big performances at summer festivals like Reading & Leeds, Latitude, NYC’s The Governors Ball, Sziget and Lollapalooza, but it also saw the band take home the 2018 Mercury Prize.
In early 2021, Wolf Alice released the single Last Man On Earth and revealed their third album, Blue Weekend, would arrive on 11 June 2021. On 22 March 2021, the band also confirmed details for a UK tour in January 2022 to support it. In 2022, Wolf Alice won the BRIT Award for Group of the Year.
In 2025, Wolf Alice announced their fourth album along with UK tour dates.
