About
Touring the UK in summer 2023
Californian outfit Vintage Trouble couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate name. Their sound is a retro, bluesy concoction of rock, soul n’ roll, with a swagger that suggests charismatic, mischief-making heartbreakers.
The band’s beginnings came about in 2010 when vocalist Ty Taylor and guitarist Nalle Colt set up a home studio in LA, bringing in bassist Rick Barrio Dill and drummer Richard Danielson to sit in on a session. A week later, the quartet made their live debut and didn’t take long to establish themselves as a popular fixture on the LA scene.
The band booked time at LA’s Bomb Shelter studios and cut their first album, The Bomb Shelter Sessions. The album caught the attention of star maker Doc McGhee (Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Hootie & The Blowfish) who promptly signed the band and sent them out on a UK tour. This led to an appearance on Later With… Jools Holland and the beginnings of a strong fanbase in the UK.
High-profile support slots followed, including opening for The Who, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, The Cranberries and Bon Jovi. The band then signed to the famous Blue Note label for their second album, 2015’s 1 Hopeful Rd. which was produced by Blue Note’s president and seminal producer Don Was.
In 2018, Vintage Trouble released Chapter II – EP I, followed by an acoustic version of all five tracks. This was followed in 2019 by Chapter II – EP II, which featured five new songs alongside five songs recorded live on tour. In 2020, they released a new re-recorded version of Not Alright By Me (We Can’t Wait) from their debut album in aid of the #8cantwait campaign.
