Thy Art Is Murder are a hard-hitting deathcore band hailing from Sydney’s Blacktown suburb. Formed in 2006, the line-up has since changed many times over the course of their career, with it currently being comprised of CJ McMahon on vocals, Sean Delander (the only remaining original member) and Andy Marsh on guitars, Jesse Beahler on drums and Kevin Butler on bass.

The band are known as Australia’s most musically incendiary cultural export because they make music that exorcises the pangs of mortality with the pains of socio-political trauma. Their sound is similar to groups like Carnifex, Whitechapel and Suicide Silence but with more tech-heavy riffs.

Since the release of their 2008 EP Infinite Death and 2010 debut album The Adversary, Thy Art Is Murder have challenged and inspired audiences around the world. Their follow-up record 2012’s Hate was the first to break into Australia’s top 40, with 2015’s uncompromising Holy War and 2017’s blistering Dear Desolation both landing in the top 10 at home while also charting in the top 100 in the US.

Over the years, Thy Art Is Murder have played festivals like Download, toured in support of Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive and Architects plus headlined and co-headlined their own shows.

In 2019, the band released their fifth album Human Target, which railed against anti-intellectualism and expressed fear of mortality due to abysmal public policy. They supported it with a performance at Bloodstock that summer and a UK tour in early 2020.

On 4 December 2020, Thy Art Is Murder announced a five-city UK tour for December 2021 with support from Malevolence, King 810, Alpha Wolf and Orbit Culture.
