Formed in 2002 in Liverpool, The Zutons released their debut album, Who Killed The Zutons?, in April 2004. With singles such as You Will You Won't, Pressure Point and Don't Ever Think (Too Much), the album was a great success, nominated for the 2004 Mercury Music Prize.
They have since released two more studio albums, 2006's Tired of Hanging Around and 2008's You Can Do Anything, but the band quietly disbanded a year later in 2009. Despite this, the band eventually reunited in 2016 for a one-off show in celebratrion of their friend, actor and former Tramp Attack frontman Kristian Early – the gig was billed as "probably the last ever" show for the Zutons.
However, the band remained in contact and performed a string of UK tour dates in 2019 to celebrate their first album.
What a belting night. They smashed it. The music was so good
Fantastic hig. Electric atmosphere. Played all the standards. The new songs were amazing. A tribute to Amy Winehouse who recorded Valerie when Abi sang Back to Black. The staff at the venue were brilliant
A band I've liked since the first two albums, so great to eventually get to watch them live at the iconic Manchester Albert Halls, and they didn't disappoint, with a good selection of early tunes from the debut album, right up to the new song "popcorn", excellent encore with Valerie, and you will you won't, finishing with a reprisal of Zutons Fever. Thoughly enjoyable night
The Zutons are a band that never seem to fail to deliver, from the interaction with the audience to the fantastic set lists and all round great musicianship. Starting and ending the show with Zuton Fever they packed in all the great anthems and sing along favs alongside several from the most recent album and even squeezing in a sublime cover of Back to Black thereby returning the favour of Amy covering their tune Valerie. Sean Payne the usual drummer was replaced this tour by former Stairs drummer Paul Maguire and a great replacement he was. The other members all played their usual parts to perfection. As always Dave and Abby did athe absolute business like the long serving performers they are. The Albert Hall in Manchester plays its own part in the proceedings as a both functional and beautiful building with its stunning stained glass windows and floral inspired plaster work on its ceilings. A delightful experience with the wonderful Zutons.
Epic performance from all, the playing every note crystal clear. Crowd pleasing tunes. One of the best gigs I've been to. Can't wait to see the Zutons again.
Seen them at the mns bank arena as a support act for Paul Heaton and they absolutely rocked the place, they were all on form and had great charisma on stage and the tunes were amazing. Can't wait to see them again in Liverpool.
