The Warehouse Project, or WHP as it’s commonly known, is a series of club nights that take place between September and January. Held each year in Manchester, these events feature producers, artists, bands, and DJs from diverse genres of electronic music.
Launched in 2006 at the disused Boddingtons Brewery site in Strangeways, The Warehouse Project typically runs every weekend, starting in autumn and wrapping up after their massive New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day closing parties.
Boasting the best in house, techno, trance, dubstep and much more, over the years WHP party goers have enjoyed performances from some of the best electronic music acts from around the world including deadmau5, Aphex Twin, Annie Mac, Happy Mondays, The Prodigy, De La Soul, Dizzee Rascal, Four Tet, Foals and Patrick Topping, among many others.
Year after year The Warehouse Project raises the benchmark for its series. In fact, the 2019 season was one of the most daring to date with much of the action occurring at the 10,000-capacity venue Depot Mayfield, a historic former railway depot in the city centre on the south side of Fairfield Street.
Two years in the making and marking a long-awaited return to the dancefloor, in May 2021 WHP organisers announced a momentous return to Depot Mayfield in autumn. Launching on 10 September 2021 and running through to New Year’s Day, The Warehouse Project’s 2021 season began with a re-opening sequence of unique shows designed to get everyone under one roof again for a full spectrum of music and cultural immersion, followed by a full season of not-to-be-missed events. This included the special Halloween At The Warehouse Project Pt. 1 presented by WHP, MVSON & HIGHER, and Halloween At The Warehouse Project Pt. 2 with Annie Mac.
In late October 2021, WHP organisers revealed they'd be uniting with Electric Chair, Repercussion and Homoelectric to present The Riot on New Year's Day, rounding off an exciting return season at Depot Mayfield. Rolling from day into night, The Riot is set to welcome The Blessed Madonna, Krystal Klear, Jayda G as well as back-to-backs from Hunee and Palms Trax, a special three-hour set in the Concourse from Louie Vega, and much more. In addition, UK dance music royalty Fatboy Slim will reign over a massive New Year’s Eve party with the incomparable Annie Mac, Hannah Wants, Yousef, and many more.
The Warehouse Project announced the opening sequence for the 2022 season in May that year. Returning to the spectacular confines of Depot Mayfield, WHP22 will run through to New Years Day. First up, Repercussion returns on Saturday 10 September for its second edition. Hosted across the full expanse of Depot Mayfield and spreading into the adjacent Star & Garter with Boiler Room and a huge street party on neighbouring Temperance Street, curated by Mr Scruff. The inner-city festival is a celebration of groundbreaking music and art in all its forms, with Jamie xx, Little Simz, Fred again.., Jeff Mills, and Underground Resistance leading the charge on this year's line-up alongside a huge cast of handpicked artists from around the world, Repercussion 2022 spoke for itself.
Repercussion returned in 2023 with Kaluki Birthday, Welcome To The Warehouse and WAH X Metropolis, plus standalone performances from Ben Hemsley and Sonny Fodera and more.
In July 2024, WHP announced the first wave of its new programme, including nights from Black Coffee, Hannah Laing, Jungle and Boiler Room. See the line-up section for more details.
