About The Gentlemen

The Gentlemen have been performing in and around the North of England for nearly three years, having built up an active following and playing alongside such acts as We Are Scientists, Palladium and The Motorettes at their spiritual home, The Leadmill in Sheffield. The Gentlemen's last sell out show in their hometown was at the Plug and their next show in Sheffield will include a live video shoot for their forthcoming single scheduled for release early 2009.

Having played many European festivals and other large shows this year, a recent show with Ash and Collin Murray at the Ricoh Arena, plus an increasing number of university shows nationwide, they will be spending the next three months showcasing and performing for national and international television and radio programs in the run up to their release. Their latest festival has seen the group play to over 10,000 people live in Holland with full National TV and Radio coverage.

The four-piece are diverse in their influences and are not your average skinny-jean-clad ‘Indie kids'. Guitarist Sean Walsh exhibits heavy influences of Rage Against the Machine as well as Duke Ellington or Miles Davis. Brothers, Joel and Josh Cana, 22 and 21 years old, make up the rhythm section on drums and bass respectively. They will tell you about Dave Matthews' songs for as long as you care to listen.

Meanwhile, "enigmatic, wizard-like lead singer", Nicholas Noble, says he is influenced by Ben Folds and even Sting in his song writing and vocal style, but to listen to him you can hear Incubus, Chili Peppers and even Micah P Hinson.  He's equally happy bouncing and break-dancing around the stage as he is on guitar or piano, and his dynamic voice is truly his greatest asset.

The overall feel of this band is a winning blend of animated, heart pumping rhythms, harmony and soulful melodic energy. Both friendly and inviting each captivating performance leaves crowds engaged and inspired.
