About

A feel-good family festival

A true delight for all ages, The Cambridge Club Festival is known for offering family fun along with exhilarating music each summer in June.

Launched in 2017, it started out as a one-day festival. Created by the same organisers behind Strawberries & Creem, the event is expanding to three days for 2021. As part of this expansion, a new location has been revealed at the historic Childerley Orchard, just a few minutes outside the city centre in the Cambridgeshire countryside.

Music is only one element of The Cambridge Club Festival’s immersive outlook. Expect an mix of funk, soul, blues and disco beats from more than 20 acts – ranging from ’80s legends and ’90s chart-toppers to some up-and-coming stars. In addition, attendees will have plenty of chances to dance while enjoying the timeless classics of past decades.

The Cambridge Club Festival also celebrates creativity in arts, comedy, culture and food. In 2021, it will be themed around "Innovators, Creators and Explorers" – while paying tribute to the history and the people who have made Cambridge the city it is today. This includes past pioneers like Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin through to present-day luminaries like David Attenborough and Emma Thompson.

Festival goers can also enjoy delicious food and drink offerings as well as children’s entertainment and the chance to glamp in style in a new boutique camping area.

In early 2021, organisers of The Cambridge Club Festival announced the event would be moving to 10 – 12 September 2021. Plus, they revealed Jack Savoretti would remain as the Saturday night headliner, with Rag'n'Bone Man later revealed to be the Friday night headliner and Soul II Soul plus Shalamar topping the line-up on Sunday night. Other artists scheduled to appear include Beverley Knight, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Trevor Nelson, Sara Cox, Toploader, Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, Heatwave, Horse Meat Disco, ABBA Disco Wonderland, Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir, Heavy Soul, Intergalactic Rhythm Society, Party Time Continuum DJs, plus many more.

“We wanted to serve up a selection of the most iconic artists from a variety of genres – expanding on our classic formula of disco, funk and soul, adding in some new styles too, but keeping the core feel-good identity of The Cambridge Club,” said William Young, managing director. “We can’t wait to see crowds coming together to sing and dance to the music, and experience everything else the festival has to offer in September!”

In addition, The Auditorium of Intrigue stage will feature live podcasts from Jay Rayner and Dictionary Corner’s Susie Dent, along with comedy from The Cambridge Footlights. The Imagination Station featuring music from Andy And The Odd Socks and other Magic Star artists is being launched for children. There will also be The Explorer's Emporium market area with a selection of artisan traders, the Food For Thought vendors area, wellness activities and a photography exhibition.
