About

A rising star in avant-pop

Known for her ethereal soundscapes and mesmerising vocals, Sylvie Kreusch’s eponymous solo-project is a masterclass in blending experimental pop and playful lyricism with darker, alt-rock influences.

Born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, Sylvie Kreusch is a multitalented singer-songwriter and performer who is well on the way to establishing herself as one of the most compelling new voices in the European music scene. Beginning her musical career aged 16, Kreusch fronted indie-pop outfit Soldier’s Heart, which she formed with friends from school. The band played together until 2016, when Sylvie left to join Balthazar's Maarten Devoldere’s solo project Warhaus. As part of Warhaus, Sylvie won a Belgium Music Industry Award, as well as No.1 on the National Albums Chart that same year. The pair performed together at numerous concerts and music festivals, allowing Sylvie to hone her own stylistic stage presence ahead of her ensuing solo shows.

In 2018, Kreusch began her own solo project in earnest. Her first single ‘Seedy Tricks’ was a result of a collaboration with Olivier Theyskens and his collection for Azzaro Couture, which showed at Paris Haute Couture Week. Both the track, with its percussive drive and emotionally raw lyrics, and the collection received widespread acclaim from publications such as Vogue. The campaign premiered in The New York Times, and was directed by Alessandro Cangelli and Cannes-winning director Lukas Dhont. This paved the way for more opportunities within the fashion industry for Sylvie, who went on to work on the soundtrack for the Prada Spring/Summer 2018 show, as well as campaigns for Victoria Secret and BMW. That same year, Sylvie also received Red Bull Elektropoa’s award for ‘Most Promising Artist’.

Kreusch went on to release her debut EP BADA BING! BADA BOOM! in 2019. Featuring standout songs ‘Seedy Tricks’ and ‘Please to Devon’, the EP served to showcase Sylvie’s knack for combining cinematic arrangements, hypnotic rhythms and seductive melodies. Her debut album followed in 2021, entitled Montbray. The effort was accompanied by increasingly theatrical live shows as Sylvie continued to amass an adoring audience with whom her stage presence and dreamy vocals resonated. Tracks ‘Walk Walk’ and ‘Let It All Burn’ received particular attention for their refreshing and expressive take on typical pop sensibilities.

Comic Trip, Kreusch's second studio album, was released in 2024 via Sony Music and preceded by a guest appearance on her old collaborator Warhaus’ track ‘Popcorn’ in 2023. Drawing upon her penchant for onomatopoeic sounds ("Boom chika waw") and experimental arrangements, the album marked a move away from her darker persona, towards a more childlike expression of music.

That said, Sylvie maintains a seriousness to her lyrics, tackling ideas of growing up and what it means to be a woman in the current climate. Titular track ‘Comic Trip’ is a euphoric 60s-inspired romp, replete with irresistible hooks and glittering arrangements, which arrived with an equally stylistic video which depicts Kreusch morphing into a flying superhero against a cartoonish western backdrop. On 'Daddy's Selling Wine In A Burning House', a sprawling, dreamy folk ballad reminiscent of Mazzy Star, Kreusch reflects on her identity as she unearths previously forgotten childhood memories.

After a show at The Lexington in December 2024 quickly sold out, another London date was added for May 2025 as part of a whopping tour across Europe in spring.
