About
Stray From The Path come to the UK
New York hardcore outfit Stray From The Path support Spiritbox at Alexandra Palace.
For their first few years as a band in Long Island, New York, Stray From The Path released their own music independently. Formed by Thomas Williams, John Kane, Justin Manas, Ed Edge and Frank Correira, they released their debut album Audio Prozac in 2003, followed by Our Oceania in 2005. That year Edge left and Andrew Dijorio joined on vocal duties. It wasn't until the release of their third effort Villains in 2008 that the band took off, after catching the attention of Los Angeles label Sumerian.
After further lineup changes, the band toured both sides of the Atlantic relentlessly and in 2011 released Rising Sun, which they recorded with Will Putney (Fit for an Autopsy) and included collaborations with members from Norma Jean, Comeback Kid and The Ghost Inside. Collaboration has long been important to Stray From The Path, and in 2013 their sixth studio album Anonymous included LetLive's Jason Butler and Stick To Your Gun's Jesse Barnett.
Subliminal Criminals was released two years later and progressed the band's political activist angle, which would go on to take aim at capitalism and the far right; in 2016, on the day of the Presidential election, they dropped the single 'The House Always Wins'. Only Death is Real was released in 2017, and included the controversial single 'Goodnight Alt-Right'.
Subsequent records included 2019's Internal Atomics and 2022's Euthanasia, plus a handful of live EPs. Their sound over the years has developed from traditional New York hardcore to Nu Metal and metalcore. In 2022, Stray From The Path performed at Download festival's 20th anniversary edition, returning to British shores several years later as main support for Grammy Award-nominated Spiritbox at their Alexandra Palace show in February 2025.
