About

Celebrating 50 years of The Lamb, and more solo prog rock gems

Steve Hackett is a guitarist, producer and songwriter best known for his commanding role in the prog rock band Genesis throughout the 70s.

Hackett left Genesis in 1977 to pursue a solo career, as well as forming the supergroup GTR with Yes guitarist Steve Howe. His own work has been prolific, as he continues to write and release albums at a steady pace. Some of his most popular albums include Spectral Mornings (1978), Voyage of the Acolyte (1975) and Defector (1980).

In September 2023, Hackett announced that he would celebrate 50 years of Genesis’ landmark album, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, with a 2024 UK tour, including stops at Aylesbury, Bristol and York, before closing at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Joining him is his touring band of Roger King (keyboards), Nad Sylvan (vocals), Jonas Reingold (bass, backing vocals), Rob Townsend (saxophone, flutes, additional keyboards), Craig Blundell (drums), and special guest Amanda Lehmann (vocals, guitar).

My favourite album from genesis is 'the lamb lies down on broadway' so I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to see Steve Hackett with my wife who's never even heard the album or any of Steve Hacketts music - we were both blown away - it might have even been better than Dave gilmour the week before - close call - great night

Great gig which was in 2 parts. Steves own work and Genesis work from The Lamb Lies Down album and Selling England album. The gig closed with Los Endos, which was superb.

  • Astonishing skills all round

by GrahamH on 16/10/2024York Barbican - YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The event was full of talented musicians, on and off stage. Steve is obviously held in high regard by the whole industry and his fans. The band are incredibly talented individuals who are allowed to show off their skills in an inclusive performance. A great set list including Hackett and Genesis classics was extremely well received. I'll be back for the next tour to be sure. And the City of York and the Barbican venue are perfect too. Thank you Steve for a joyous evening.
