About

Unique alternative act blending genres and tackling current issues

Formed in London in 1994, Skunk Anansie instantly caught attention with their unique blend of alternative, rock, and punk influences, coupled with a dub sensibility which showcased their multi-cultural background.

Their outspoken lyrics tackling social and political issues, alongside vocalist Skin’s unapologetic queer sexuality and high-fashion aesthetic, meant that they became one of the most talked about and important bands of their generation and quickly led to global success.

With a string of critically acclaimed albums including Paranoid & Sunburnt, Stoosh’ Post Orgasmic Chill and 25LIVE@25, as well as hit singles such as ‘Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good)’, ‘Selling Jesus’, ‘Twisted (Everyday Hurts)’ and ‘Weak’. Skunk Anansie have sold millions of records around the world and headlined Glastonbury Festival in 1999. After a hiatus in the early 2000s, the band triumphantly reformed in 2009 and have continued to release new music and tour the world ever since.

Skunk Anansie are currently working on new music to follow the band’s acclaimed recent singles ‘Piggy’ and ‘Can’t Take You Anywhere’. Their return in 2025 will showcase exactly why, over 30 years since their first performances, Skunk Anansie are one of the most powerful and exciting bands on the planet – both as recording artists and live performers.

  • Amazing concert.

by Veetie on 16/04/2025O2 Academy Bournemouth - BournemouthRating: 5 out of 5

Loved this concert. Venue great - band amazing. Skin appears to be ageing backwards and had the energy and enthusiasm of a 25 year old, with outstanding vocals. Haven't really listened much to Skunk Anansie since the 90's but definitely will going forward.

  • Skunk Anansie amazing gig

by HR on 13/04/2025O2 Academy Leeds - LeedsRating: 5 out of 5

Skunk Anansie at O2 Leeds was amazing. Good sound and good venue. Had fun in the mosh pit. Drinks expensive but we were there for the music so didn't matter. Plenty of toilets and handy having cloakroom. Would go again.

  • Too many people

by SH on 13/04/2025O2 Academy Leeds - LeedsRating: 3 out of 5

Everything with the venue was very good the only thing is just felt like there was too many people in the building for the size of the venue. Was a nightmare to even move to the toilets didn't even bother getting drinks as you just wouldn't be able to get to the bar never mind getting back to where you was stood with drinks. There was people standing in doorways and in the walkways just to be able to see the event which just made it even harder to move. I have been to lots of events, shows and festivals so I understand how busy these things are but on this occasion there was just too many people in the space.

Performance was amazing as usual full entertainment gets everyone fired up venue is great

  • Uncomfortable

by Rocky on 11/04/2025Cambridge Corn Exchange - CambridgeRating: 3 out of 5

The band were great but the venue was uncomfortable with long wait between doors opening and entertainment starting. The running order was not available on the tickets or app and needed to be. We left and came back later as there is nothing to do & no places to sit. It was crowded standing in the stalls so I couldn't really see the band and it was hot and the air in the place was stale - felt very unhygienic.

Just Brilliant.Saw them 4 times now over about 25 years and they never disappoint.Skin's energy and rapor with the crowd is great and her voice is something else. Not a massive fan of the venue though as it's not a great viewing venue and the price of the drinks are just ridiculous. But that apart what a night!🎸🎶👌

  • Splendid act of rock and roll

by Gromek on 05/04/2025O2 Apollo Manchester - ManchesterRating: 4 out of 5

O2 Apollo is a really nice venue, however, it needs some refreshing and cleaning, too. The Band gave an awesome performance, clean, crisp sound and the hypnotizing Skin's voice made the evening one to remember for long. Hope the new album will be killing!
