About Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre – Macbeth

Macbeth is bloody, action-packed, fast-paced and psychologically tense. Populated by ghosts, witches and haunting apparitions, it tells of over-reaching ambition, a kingdom in crisis, a toxic marriage and a man’s encounter with his own darkest self.

Returning victorious from battle in the service of King Duncan of Scotland, Macbeth and Banquo encounter three witches who prophesy that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and then King of Scotland, while Banquo’s descendants will be kings. Consumed by ambition and spurred on by his wife, Macbeth murders Duncan and assumes the crown.

He then embarks on a murderous path to secure his position and confront his own fears.
