Seal announces September UK tour
British soul singer Seal embarks on a UK tour in September 2023, visiting some of the countries most beautiful venues such as Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall and the London Palladium.
Born Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel in London in 1963, Seal initially trained as an architect before joining the funk band Push and touring with them in Asia. After joining a blues band in Thailand, the young singer returned home and soon integrated into the country's house scene after meeting producer Adamski. Seal sung on Adamski's track 'Killer', which reached No.1 in 1990. Attention soon turned to the track's singer, who until that point had been sleeping on a friend's couch at the time. He signed a solo record deal with ZTT and in 1991 released his self-titled debut.
Produced by Trevor Horn (Grace Jones, Frankie Goes To Hollywood), Seal included the tracks 'Future Love Paradise,' 'Crazy,' 'Violet' and a re-recording of 'Killer,' and won Best British Album at the Brit Awards the following year. Three years later Seal released his second album, also self-titled, which was received just as well and included songs 'Newborn Friend' and 'Prayer for the Dying'. The album's third single, 'Kiss From A Rose', took a little while to bloom, but in 1996 won Record of the Year and 'Song of the Year' at the Grammy's, and the soaring pop ballad has remained the singer's unwavering mega-hit.
Releasing Human Being in 1998 and appearing on songs with the likes of Santana, Jakatta and Mylène Farmer, in 2004 Seal released Seal IV, which pulled him back in the limelight with tracks such as 'Love's Devine' and 'Waiting For You.' Seal was busy throughout the 00s, releasing a greatest hits LP and performing huge shows in the likes of Paris and Dusseldorf, which were both filmed and released. He also released the dance-orientated System in 2007, plus an homage to some of his favourite artists on Soul (2008) along with its 2011 follow-up Soul 2. The following decade was equally prolific, releasing Seal VI: Commitment (2010), 7 (2015) and his tenth album Standards (2017), which was recorded in the once Frank Sinatra-frequented Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. All this is to say nothing of his television appearances, ranging from judging on America's Got Talent to surprising audiences as a contestant on The Masked Singer France.
In 2023 Seal digitally re-released 'Kiss From A Rose.'
