One of the UK’s funniest women
South Shields-born Sarah Millican followed an unusual path to fame. Left unexpectedly by her husband in 2004, she moved back home with her parents and started taking writing workshops as an outlet for processing her emotions.
Her first ever stand-up gig was in a Newcastle pub called The Dog & Parrot, which had a fringe theatre upstairs. Although she had no idea what she was doing, Millican drew on the pain of her failed marriage and connected with the audience… from then on, she was hooked on live comedy.
Millican made her debut at the Edinburgh Fringe with Not Nice in 2008 and was named Best Newcomer in the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. She continued to garner acclaim when she returned in 2009 with her battle of the sexes themed Typical Woman and again in 2010 with her fast-talking Chatterbox.
Soon after she started making the rounds on TV comedy and panel shows like 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo and Have I Got News For You.
In 2010 she appeared in her own radio series, Sarah Millican’s Support Group, as a modern-day agony aunt and was also invited to perform as part of The Royal Variety Performance. The following year she was invited to join the panel of the popular ITV show Loose Women.
Her own TV show, The Sarah Millican Television Programme, combining stand-up with celebrity interviews, arrived in 2012 and ran for three series.
Millican founded an online magazine for women in 2014 called Standard Issue and launched a spinoff podcast by the same name in 2016. Her autobiography How to be Champion was published in 2017.
In 2018, Millican toured Control Enthusiast in the UK and abroad, with the show later being released on DVD. She began presenting Radio 4’s comedy panel programme Elephant in the Room in 2019.
Millican said she spent much of 2020 writing jokes. At the end of the year, she announced the result – a bigger backside and the new stand-up show, Bobby Dazzler, which she’d take on her sixth international tour in 2021 and 2022.
Sarah Millican is hitting the road with her Bobby Dazzler tour from 1 May 2021 – 7 October 2022.
Among the many UK cities Sarah Millican will stop in with Bobby Dazzler are the following:
For Sarah Millican’s sixth international tour, Bobby Dazzler, she said she’ll share her wisdom on how to throw poo over a wall and how awful it is in a floatation tank. Millican will also explain what happens when your mouth seals shut, share details of a surprisingly funny smear test and cover much more.
Tickets for Sarah Millican’s tour dates in 2021 and 2022 are on sale now.

Great adult entertainment. Laugh after laugh. Truly on the edge.
Sarah Millican Late Bloomer, great show ,down to earth funny Geordie talking about growing up and not getting fingered in the bike shed . Go and see this show !
Belly laughed all night long! Thank god for Tena Lady's!!! Sarah's comedy is brutally honest and relatable which makes it all the more funny!
Went to see Sarah at the Derngate in Northampton with my wife she was hilarious hope she's back in Northampton next year brilliant
At the Edinburgh playhouse last night (14/09/24) for the show. After purchasing these tickets around a year ago the wait was definitely worth it, laughed so much my jaw hurt. Would definitely go see again
Sarah is a very funny woman, never stopped laughing all night, her support act was funny also, great seats at the venue.
It was a good show, good amount of laughs. Lou the support act was good too, got the crowd going. Felt sorry for the men in the audience with all the period talk, I landed lucky and a friend came to the show instead of my husband who had to work.
Bought two tickets for my mum and wife to go see Sarah and they had an amazing night
Seen John bishop and Sarah millican in the last week, absolutely superb shows , wonderful venue the Alhambra who attract top acts , superb choice of restaurants close by , highly recommend Bhoons Indian restaurant and leconte, two superb restaurants, Dunfermline is close to where I live and will definitely be back soon.
First time we saw Sarah live and she didn't disappoint us. She was hilarious, laugh 'til you cry funny! The whole gig was riotously on-point, loved every minute of her performance and would definitely recommend her show. Saucy topics told with the assured bluntness of a true "Geordie lass", top class entertainment and everyone enjoyed it!
Sarah Millican was outstanding I have never laughed so much, my stomach was hurting and I was crying with laughter. Simply the BEST ❤️❤️❤️
Didn't think she could get any funnier but I literally cried with laughter from start to finish. The stories she tells are relatable to everyone whether you admit it or not but undeniably the best female comedian to grace the stage. Watching her live without restrictions compared to on the tv is another level so if you get the chance to see her live book it without hesitation, you will have the best night!! Well done Sarah
Fantastic evening - my face still aches from the continuous laughter! Brilliant wit from a hilarious fantabulous woman.
Great show, only spoilt by the obscene drink prices.. £9.50 for a Vodka & lemonade!! At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. Is it any wonder why people arrive at the venue worse for wear??
Easy purchase, easy e-tickets. Sarah Millican was awesome… so very funny. The support comedian was not great but this didn't detract from a great night out
Fun packed evening with Sarah at her usual best!! Laugh a minute!!
Sarah was excellent , I took my good lady for her birthday ( was secretly what I wanted ) and was not disappointed, warm up act was really funny and the way sarah presented her stories was brilliant. She got the crowd going and there was lots of belly laughs with her real life stories. I like how she places importance on donating to the Samaritans after the show rather than ramming her product down your neck. I would definitely go to another show and would recommend this one. Congratulations on a great show sarah. 👍
This is the second time I have been to see Sarah Milligan always a great show will definitely go to see her again
