About

The critically acclaimed drag race hits the road

RuPaul’s Drag Race is a competitive reality TV show that first aired in the US in 2009. The show follows drag superstar RuPaul as she puts queens vying for the title of “America’s next drag superstar” through their paces in a series of challenges, with the help of celebrity guest judges. Challenges include themed runway walks and a “lipsync for your life” head-to-head between the bottom two contestants to decide who is eliminated.

Following hugely successful seasons on Logo TV and then VH1, RuPaul took the show across the Atlantic in 2019 for the first ever RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. Hosted by RuPaul herself and featuring a judging panel of Graham Norton, Michelle Visage and Alan Carr, the first season debuted on BBC Three in October 2019 to huge acclaim and was won by The Vivienne.

A second season was quickly greenlit, although production was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It finally aired on 14 January 2021 with guest judges including Liz Hurley and Dawn French. Four queens made it to the final, with Scotland’s Lawrence Chaney being crowned the winner ahead of runners-up Bimini Bon Boulash and Tayce.

Shortly after the final, a RuPaul’s Drag Race UK: Series 2 tour was confirmed, featuring queens from both series alongside the finalists from season two: Lawrence Chaney, Bimini Bon Boulash, Ellie Diamond and Tayce. Nineteen dates around Scotland, England and Wales were announced for February 2022, promising audiences the chance to experience the Charm, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent of the queens in an endless eleganza extravaganza. Due to huge demand, 10 more dates were added to the tour. On 6 April 2021, organisers added 12 more new dates across the UK because of overwhelming demand and announced that all Series 2 queens will star in the tour.*
