Absolutely fantastic band, well worth seeing live, the next best thing to real REM!
Saw thes guys at the Flowerpot in Derby back in March and going again at the end of the month in Shrewsbury. Brilliant band. If you love REM , you love these guys.
I've always shied away from 'tribute' bands in the past and particularly for REM as I thought nothing could come close to what I still see as the perfect band. Then a few years back I thought why not give it a go. I couldn't have been proved more wrong. These guys (and gal!) in STIPE bring everything flooding back, and are so true, respectful and loving to REMs extensive work and it shows every night they play. Their ability to pick up across the whole back catalogue, accommodating totally random requests from their fans - and let's be clear, they are genuinely THEIR fans too with so many familiar faces - no matter the album, ensures that every gig feels so unique while harvesting the most consistent warm, communal feeling and love from the audience. It feels like a family, for new and old. Recent adaptations to their gigs, like special acoustic sets, have shown their continued evolvement as a group in trying new things qnd making things feel different for their regular audience (as well as themselves!). Having seen them play on many occasions over the past 5 years I would say the band are tighter than ever in their performances, all clearly skilled musicians in their own right (and importantly fans themselves) with set lists changing every time while ensuring the hits are always there to keep new fans and old dancing throughout. STIPEs willingness to truly engage with like minded fans is lovely to see and it's always great catching up for a beer (or three!) after the show. Great people, Great fans, Great music from the Greatest band.
Seen these guys quite a few times and they are amazing. Always a brilliant night doing all the favourites and the "unusual"too. Never forget hearing Walk Unafraid st Paisley and Low at Kinross. Sadly you won't see REM perform again but Stipe are most definitely the next best thing.
I first saw 'R.E.M. By Stipe' in 2018 and was blown away! After that gig I said to Richard ('Stipe') that I'd probably never see another R.E.M. tribute band that could rival them. I've seen them a dozen times or so since then and they always deliver; professionally, emotionally and spiritually. And with Becky (keyboards) at the helm, their additions to the band today have seen them excel to do the music of the greatest band in the world, so unbelievably proud. If you feel R.E.M. in your heart and soul - you're gonna love these guys! And personally, I'm very grateful for their dedication and commitment to bring the 'next best thing' back into our lives. Undoubtedly THE *definitive* R.E.M. experience!
I've seen STIPE more times than I can recall now, but the first time blew me away, I think I spent a great deal of it with my eyes closed fully immersed in the moment. The sound is recreated just perfectly. Rick has nailed Michael Stipe's stage persona and rather than a 'covers' band, this really is a tribute in every way. Go to one of their gigs, I promise you won't regret it and you'll book every one you can get to afterwards!
I have now seen Stipe five times the most recent being last weekend at Acapela in Pentyrch. They as always were absolutely fantastic and if you are a fan of the music of R. E. M. you are in for a treat. Yes they play all the big well known songs but also delve into the huge back catalogue of R.E M. albums to bring our some little known gems. The musicianship of the band is superb and the lead singer has Michael Stipes voice and mannerisms off to a tee. If they are in your area go along and see them, you will not be disappointed!
I saw REM by Stipe at the Half Moon in Putney for the first time this year. I am a BIG fan of REM and these lovely people did not disappoint! I will now go to anything they do that's near enough. A great mixture of tunes too, no matter which album or era is your favourite. Superb.
Can't remember how many times we've seen this amazing band - lost count. Always bringing something new to each performance - they don't rely on just the well known hits. Have a great following and deservedly so. Just seen them at Lion's Den in Manchester and can't wait until the next local gig.
