Took my daughter as she's too young to go on her own so I'm not the Festivals demographic but fairly experienced in Festivals and gigs . Very young crowd , all school leavers but great atmosphere. The security staff were amazing and have to say set up for young teenagers was great, loads of welfare areas, shops and security. Chevron stage was a good addition and was bouncing but music totally overshadowed main stages. Couldn't hear main acts on main stage and Reading need to seriously review main stage sound system . Great festival overall .

  • Had better years (this was Number 21..)

Yes music tastes change and the festival reflects that and the artists chosen suit it. I love rock music but I know reading is popular music, so I won't complain about that - people need to look else where for that music. However the number of stages have dramatically dropped which is a shame, the Aux stage - I get it but to get rid of the comedy tent when it's always busy was a bad call. Also the multiple headlines vibe which was working with the East and west stages, to change it without notice and leave the line up poster for so long, without properly explaining the introduction of the chevron stages and the impact that has on the headliners and clashes was frustrating. The chevron stage was good but it meant clashes when in recent years it wouldn't have happened and a bad taste was left in the mouths of many - especially on the Friday night.

  • Liam Gallagher was amazing as always!

My first time at Reading Festival, we had a day ticket to see Liam Gallagher, he was amazing as always. Enjoyed the festival, although when we were stood towards the front of the main stage watching and listening to Catfish and the Bottlemen and Liam Gallagher you could still hear the loud music from the other stage which was behind. It would be better if you couldn't hear that. Toilets were good and clean and the queue moved quite quickly. It would be good if there was flavoured cider at the bars.

Speakers broke for lana del rey. Couldn't hear her over the other stages and her set was cut short.

  • Disappointing

I am really disappointed with the organization of the festival. I flew all the way from Portugal and bought the daily ticket just to see Renee Rapp on sunday 25th. The show got canceled in the beginning, she nearly sang.

  • Not what i expected

The problems during some of the performances caused delays or cancellations of those performances, which i think could be avoidable. Also, the day tickets are not really providing its value eniugh if you are travelling by public transport from another city, because there is no trains or buses after the night performances so you have to skip some nice shows to catch the last train.

  • A mixed one

by Tyler on 28/08/2024Richfield Avenue - ReadingRating: 3 out of 5

Reading festival 2024 was a mixed one. This was the 4th time me and my partner have been to the festival. Firstly Thursday night, in the 4 years of going it's been the first time there's actually been something on in the evening, whereas Leeds always seems to have something. However the silent disco, didn't feel like much of a silent disco. Normally there's multiple channels playing different music for everyone, but this was just one dj playing the same song to everyone, which was pretty disappointing. Friday was a really good day, loads of acts on throughout the day that were really good. So no problems with Friday. Saturday was when the storm hit Reading and the weather was awful. Not readings fault, and it did clear up later on in the afternoon. Also some really good acts on. However this was the first time you could hear the chevron stage over the main stage which should not be happening. It felt like this had not been thought through at all or even tested. I know Lana del rey is usually quite quiet, but I could barely hear her over the loud techno music from the chevron stage. But Fred again was fine as there was no one else on. Sunday, the worst of the lot. Firstly Renee rapp, coming on and nothing working, then the set starts and so much water dropping on her during the set and her having to stop the set with only doing a few songs. This was an artist we really wanted to see. But the water issue didn't affect anyone else after this. And there was no sound issues until the one act we came to reading to see which was catfish. Yet again equipment not working and not being able to hear anything due to the chevron stage. Was not happy with this at all. And then Liam Gallagher, during his show you can just see the strobe lights from the chevron stage and hear the noise as well. And the fireworks for the show were delayed which was a bit weird. It felt like this was the first year nothing has really been thought through with the festival. And it also felt like there wasn't much to do apart from going to the stages, I don't know why there wasn't any comedy acts on this year and swapped from podcasters, which I know is for the younger generation, but the comedy stage has always been really good. I wouldn't have the chevron stage again unless the times don't clash with the main stage. Overall, it was a fun time the first few nights were really good but I can't help feel so disappointed with the last night, it's made me think twice about ever going again, as it's a lot of money to pay if the organisation is going to be really poor.

Absolutely amazing. Best weekend of my life. I'm not even joking. This probs sounds like AI cant lie and I thought the lineup was bad but then I got there and got a grip and it was actually so so good. So much security in every camp at every time of day, really good timings, really good selection of food stands and drinks, coop was mad good and pretty cheap, and getting into town was so easy hinestly GET IN THEREE

  • Great festival with disappointment

Great smaller acts over the 3 days but blink and prodigy clash left sour taste. Access staff once again knocked it out of park with fantastic service and support.
