Sultry synth-pop purveyors from Massachusetts announce 2025 UK dates
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lyndsey Gunnulfsen – better known as Lynn Gunn – formed the collective PVRIS in 2012.
Hailing from Lowell, Massachusetts, the early line-up also included guitarist Alex Babinski, drummer Brad Griffin and bassist Brian Macdonald.
When the band first came together, they chose PARIS for their name, but later found out it was copyrighted by another band and so adjusted the spelling to PVRIS. The pronunciation is still the same as the magnificent city – which they fell in love with because it has a dark facet along with offering so much beauty inside.
PVRIS’ self-titled EP came out in 2013 and started to establish their sound as a blend of dreamy, atmospheric electronica with heavier alt-rock beats. After joining the Vans Warped Tour that summer and the Rise Up Tour in autumn, their profile and fan base grew. Around this time, Griffin left the band and they continued on as a trio.
In 2014, PVRIS was signed to the metalcore label Rise Records and began working on their first album with producer Blake Harnage (Versa, All Time Low). Their debut full-length White Noise arrived in November of that year and charted at No.55 in the UK.
Over the next two years, PVRIS hit the road, touring with bands like Bring Me The Horizon in 2015 and Fall Out Boy in 2016.
Recorded in a church rumoured to be haunted in upstate New York, their follow-up All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell was released in early 2017 and climbed to No.4 on the UK albums chart. Filled with swirling guitars and distorted instrumentation, it saw their soundscape evolve. Later that year, PVRIS promoted the album during a European tour that included a stop in London.
Following some health issues and a change of label to Reprise, the trio returned in July 2019 with Death Of Me, their comeback single and accompanying music video which was featured in their second EP, Hallucinations, released that autumn.
In 2020, PVRIS split ways with Babinski, and Gunn stepped forward as the creative force behind PVRIS. A third full-length album titled Use Me came out that summer and was performed in full during a three-part livestream series, with the first two instalments seeing the previous two albums played in full too.
After teasing artwork displaying the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris, PVRIS unveiled the track Monster in July 2021. In 2023, PVRIS released its fourth studio album, EVERGREEN, earning its first #1 debut on the Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart in the UK.
To mark the 10 year anniversary of their breakthrough record White Noise, PVRIS announced a run of shows across the US, Europe and the UK, which saw them perform two acts each night: the aforementioned album in full during Act 1, and a special set consisting of more recent PVRIS songs in Act 2.
