Sessions in the summertime...

Each event will take place in a specially designed area in the royal park. Unlike other London outdoor events, these concerts will be very intimate, as there is a capacity of just 3000 per night so tickets will be limited.

Serpentine Sessions were created to support unique, visionary artists and allow concertgoers to enjoy prestigious acts in a stunning location where the focus is the music.

More exciting acts will be announced soon, including the main stage support, and the three acoustic acts per night, who will be playing on the smaller bandstand stage. All bands are playing at different times, so concert-goers have the chance to see every act playing.

Regina Spektor

Playing her only announced London show of 2009, pioneering songwriter Regina Spektor has been charming audiences with her vibrant style since her breakthrough album 11:11 in 2001.

Following collaborations with the Strokes and supporting artists like the Kings of Leon, Regina soon worked her way into the hearts of music fans, and gained phenomenal success with her following albums. Her Serpentine Session coincides with the release of "Far", the highly anticipated follow up to her acclaimed album "Begin To Hope". This is a unique opportunity to catch this multi-talented and imaginative performer in a very special setting.

Bon Iver

When Justin Vernon, aka Bon Iver, released his debut album "For Emma, Forever Ago" in 2007, audiences were instantly enraptured. A devastating meditation on love, loss and grief, the record went Gold in UK and ranked in many magazines' year-end polls - including Observer Music Monthly's "Album of the Year".

Live, his music translates just as wondrously, tightly winding together strands of gospel, mountain folk and spectral harmonies to create an intensely moving, near religious experience, spurred on by Vernon's distinctive falsetto and oblique lyrics. This performance will be Bon Iver's only London show in 2009.

Tindersticks' Serpentine Session is the first chance for fans of the respected band to see them in 2009, with their updated line-up. Active since 1992, the band have gained a steady following with their breed of maverick rock and roll, that's mixed up with a passion for 70's soul. Their live show will be an exciting chance for fans to be part of a creative multi-instrumental experience that has seen the band flourish since 2006, when three of their founding members departed and left the hardcore of singer/ guitarist Stuart Staples, lead guitarist Neil Fraser and keyboardist David Boulter.
