Heaton announces new album The Mighty Several alongside UK dates for Winter 2024
Paul Heaton is one of the UK's most successful songwriters with well over 15 million album sales under his belt. He first came to public attention in the early '80s as the frontman of Hull-based indie-pop band The Housemartins, who are best known for their third single 'Happy Hour' and their No.1 acapella cover of The Isley Brothers' 'Caravan Of Love'.
In 1988 Heaton formed The Beautiful South, which released 10 hugely successful albums – from 1989's Welcome To The Beautiful South to 2006's Superbi. Jacqui Abbott was lead vocalist for some time in The Beautiful South and she sang many of their signature hits including 'Rotterdam', 'Don't Marry Her' and 'Dream A Little Dream'.
Heaton released his first solo album, Fat Chance, in 2001, and went on to release two further solo albums: 2008's The Cross-Eyed Rambler and 2010's Acid Country.
In 2011, Heaton wrote a musical called The 8th based on the seven deadly sins and asked Abbott to sing one of the parts. They went on to release three top five-charting albums as a duo: 2014's What Have We Become, 2015's Wisdom, Laughter And Lines and 2017's Crooked Calypso.
Heaton put together a career-spanning collection of his music in 2018 – from The Housemartins and The Beautiful South to his solo and duo work – titled The Last King Of Pop.
The year 2022 saw Heaton reach a significant birthday, which he celebrated in typically idiosyncratic style by putting £1,000 behind the bar of 60 carefully chosen pubs across the UK and Ireland so that fans could have a drink on him.
Heaton and Abbott's released N.K-Pop in October 2022, preceded by the poignant ballad ‘Still’, which was described as "beautifully heartbreaking" by Dawn French, and the gospel pop song ‘Too Much For One (Not Enough For Two). To support the new album, Heaton and Abbott confirmed a UK tour in November - December 2022.
On 26 June 2024, Heaton performs a special summer outdoor show at Cardiff Castle. Featuring guest singer Rianne Downey, the show will see
Heaton performing songs from throughout his career including classic tracks from The Beautiful South and The Housemartins.
Heaton's announced a new solo album, The Mighty Several, in 2024. Produced by The Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie, the album is set for an October release with the single 'Fish "N' Chip Supper' coming out in June. Heaton also announced UK tour dates for November and December 2024, with Downey again appearing as a special guest and support The Zutons.

Really brilliant performance by The Zutons followed by epic show from Paul Heaton . Both his voice and Rhiannes are amazing . Will definitely be trying to see again
Saw Paul Heaton last night at the Brighton Centre - 03/12/2024. His performance was amazing. His voice is still as strong and beautiful as ever. Norman Cook as said he has the voice of an angel and he was absolutely spot on. His group was incredible as was the guest singer Rianne Downey who had the most beautiful clear strong voice. She was constantly dancing and moving around the stage so full of energy and joy. The night was a joyful event and left us feeling so hyped and full of happiness. I loved Paul Heaton with the Beautiful South and the Housemartins and I still love him as much as ever on his own. Full marks to the Brighton Centre for organisation and assisting me with getting accessible seats even though we had only booked ordinary seats. Our view was without compare from the South Balcony and the seats we comfortable. The staff were wonderful, polite and fun. Overall the perfect night out.
An unforgettable performance that showcased his legendary songwriting, sharp wit, and deep connection with his audience. From the moment he stepped on stage, Heaton exuded charisma, making every person in the room feel like part of an intimate celebration rather than a concert. Standout moments included heartfelt performances of "Rotterdam (Or Anywhere)" and "A Little Time," which had the crowd singing along word for word, as well as anthems like "Happy Hour" that turned the venue into a joyous dance floor. His newer material was met with equal enthusiasm, proving his knack for writing songs that resonate across generations. The night wasn't just a concert; it was a celebration of timeless music, sharp storytelling, and the unique bond between an artist and their fans. A truly phenomenal experience.. Rhianne Downey's performance was a standout highlight of the night, showcasing her incredible vocal talent and undeniable stage presence. Whether harmonizing or taking the spotlight on her own she brought a fresh energy and soulful warmth to the stage that perfectly complemented the evening's atmosphere. Downey's natural charisma shone through, not only in her singing but also in her interactions with Paul and the audience. Her passion for music was evident in every note, and her ability to connect with the crowd made her feel like an integral part of the show rather than a supporting act. For fans of Paul, Rhianne was a revelation-a young artist with immense talent who more held her own.
Seen Paul many times gets better with age. Shout out to Rhiannon Downey did Glasgow proud.
Fantastic concert, he was amazing and the young girl Rhiann was fantastic. Dropped a star for his mention of football, I don't go to a music concert to find out who supports who…especially in Glasgow x
Brilliant concert from Paul Heaton and his band one off the best concerts if not the best I've been too
Paul Heaton was the best concert I have ever been too and I have been to 100s of big names. The vocals were outstanding! I would have payed double for my ticket!
He was absolutely brilliant from beginning to end. The place was electric with him, he sung a great mixture of old and new songs. Will definitely be back to see him 👌
The Paul Heaton concert at The Ovo Hydro Glasgow 1st Dec was fantastic. As soon as Pail came on the songs old and new were blasted out, with Rhianna complimenting each No. (What a voice). A real party atmosphere.
Loved gig in Glasgow last night. The Zutons were great supporting act, should be headliners! Paul Heaton was simply amazing, all the crowd pleasers and just a great party atmosphere- loved it!
Was very good no issues with getting tickets getting to arena .The concert was brilliant one of the best I have been to
Absolutely brilliant night really enjoyed it Paul is a amazing singer
Paul Heaton was fantastic and played loads of classics from his Housemartins and Beautiful South. Also great to have an artist who sets tickets and merch at an affordable price. The monobrows from Manchester should take note!
A fabulous concert by the. very talented Paul Heaton.Enjoyed the fact that he gave a great platform to the lovely Rhian e.
This was an amazing night with Paul Heaton and his fabulous band and support act the Zutons. Paul Heaton is engaging, charismatic, and has lost not an once of his distinctive singing voice. Rianne Downey was an exceptional accompaniment to Paul, knew all the songs and sang them absolutely superbly. I would have gone back again tonight to experience it all again if I could.
Paul again put on a magnificent performance, had the place rocking. The Ovo hydro is a great arena. Roll on next time 🎵🎙🎶
From the first few bars of the Zutons opening number you knew it was going to be a great show - and then with Paul running through his career of greatest hits from Housemartins, Beautiful South and the solo albumns it was 3 concerts in one. Rianne's homecoming gig was tremendous - she brings such an energy to the stage and complements Paul's less than energetic delivery, and her own interpretation to the songs. Audience singalongs, surprises throughout, and a great finale made this a truely memorable night¬!
Excellent night. Paul was outstanding and vocally still has it. Rianne Downey was exceptional I loved the Country vibe.
Absolutely brilliant gig what a performer true gentleman with an Amazon voice
Paul was excellent however the seats we had were very poor could barely see the stage and couldn't see any of the screens def wouldn't book these seats again
