Heaton announces new album The Mighty Several alongside UK dates for Winter 2024
Paul Heaton is one of the UK's most successful songwriters with well over 15 million album sales under his belt. He first came to public attention in the early '80s as the frontman of Hull-based indie-pop band The Housemartins, who are best known for their third single 'Happy Hour' and their No.1 acapella cover of The Isley Brothers' 'Caravan Of Love'.
In 1988 Heaton formed The Beautiful South, which released 10 hugely successful albums – from 1989's Welcome To The Beautiful South to 2006's Superbi. Jacqui Abbott was lead vocalist for some time in The Beautiful South and she sang many of their signature hits including 'Rotterdam', 'Don't Marry Her' and 'Dream A Little Dream'.
Heaton released his first solo album, Fat Chance, in 2001, and went on to release two further solo albums: 2008's The Cross-Eyed Rambler and 2010's Acid Country.
In 2011, Heaton wrote a musical called The 8th based on the seven deadly sins and asked Abbott to sing one of the parts. They went on to release three top five-charting albums as a duo: 2014's What Have We Become, 2015's Wisdom, Laughter And Lines and 2017's Crooked Calypso.
Heaton put together a career-spanning collection of his music in 2018 – from The Housemartins and The Beautiful South to his solo and duo work – titled The Last King Of Pop.
The year 2022 saw Heaton reach a significant birthday, which he celebrated in typically idiosyncratic style by putting £1,000 behind the bar of 60 carefully chosen pubs across the UK and Ireland so that fans could have a drink on him.
Heaton and Abbott's released N.K-Pop in October 2022, preceded by the poignant ballad ‘Still’, which was described as "beautifully heartbreaking" by Dawn French, and the gospel pop song ‘Too Much For One (Not Enough For Two). To support the new album, Heaton and Abbott confirmed a UK tour in November - December 2022.
On 26 June 2024, Heaton performs a special summer outdoor show at Cardiff Castle. Featuring guest singer Rianne Downey, the show will see
Heaton performing songs from throughout his career including classic tracks from The Beautiful South and The Housemartins.
Heaton's announced a new solo album, The Mighty Several, in 2024. Produced by The Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie, the album is set for an October release with the single 'Fish "N' Chip Supper' coming out in June. Heaton also announced UK tour dates for November and December 2024, with Downey again appearing as a special guest and support The Zutons.

Paul Heaton was absolutely amazing, he is so talented but at the same time he's very grounded. His songs are so well written & performed
Really ungorgettable gig !! Paul and Rianne are a great duo. Stunning voices and wonderful songs as always
Fantastic music , great atmosphere Real value for money
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience from the support acts to the amazing Paul Heaton. The Coop Arena was impressive considering the start it had!! The staff were on hand to make sure people knew where to go etc and on leaving the arena, again, impressed with how it was managed. Can't wait for our next visit…. Just need to find something/someone to come and see!!
A brilliant performance and a great venue. Will definitely be back
As always, excellent evening of fantastic music - mix of the old classics and newer stuff. Both supports were fantastic. Love that Paul always gives amazing value for money.
I didn't know what to expect at the concert and was not sure about going after a long hard day at work. WOW WOW WOW I was totally on cloud million, what a concert !! Support for the Zutons and the lightening seeds were amazing. However, Paul and Rianne totally blew us away. Great songs with perfect perfection by both and left the concert thinking I wish I could go back in again and start all over. I have seen so many concerts and this is in my top 3 of my best without a doubt. Singing the songs all the way home and at work the day after. Thank you Paul Heaton and Rianne Downey for such a fantastic night. PS: I had the new CD before we went to the concert !!!
The concert was outstanding.the atmosphere was electric,Paul and rianne were outstanding. This was by far the best I have ever seen Paul Heaton, playing old and new songs. The new songs are a little different but wow what a great new album
What a great night from start to finish. Excellent venue and great support acts in zutons and lightening seeds. Paul was superb as usual.
Stewards were very helpful with any enquiry we made .very easy to get around the venue.co op live felt comfortable enough to walk around without feeling cramped.like the no steps walkways .only minor thing was leaving the carpark took a little while after the concert.maybe this could be looked at to see if it could be improved, although I'm fully aware trying to get so many people away from venue safely is no mean feat.probably the best concert venue I've been to in the uk .well done and thanks for a wonderful evening.
Really good night, fantastic gig from Paul and the band Rianna has a beautiful voice.
Brilliant experience, nothing to complain about, plenty of food outlets so queing could have been a lot worse
Fab support acts and the show was amazing, pity the food and drink is so expensive
Fantastic gig by Paul and his absolutely amazing band Great mix of new and old songs Supporting acts were also fabulous As a person with mobility issues the venues accessibility was so impressive I felt like part of the gig and not in the way Thanks to all involved
Fabulous concert.. amazing ticket price.. definitely seeing him again
Unbelievable is an understatement! I can't put into words the quality still of Paul's voice, great interaction with the audience. Reanne Downey is on another level, possibly the best female vocal performance I've ever heard. They just come across so well and for £45 a ticket, it's definitely a must watch
A great way to build up to Paul's set with support acts The Zutons and Lightning Seeds who are both well known and have had great successes of their own. Started early 6.45 and ended with Paul at 10.30 after multiple great songs from all three bands.
Amazing performance from Paul, Rhianna and the band, had everyone singing, the Zutons were brilliant to set the night off followed by the lightning seeds who were also brilliant, overall a fantastic night out.
Paul Heaton was fantastic. We missed The Zutons as they were on so early which was disappointing but the rest of the show was brilliant.
You can't often say that concerts are great value for money but Paul's always are and with the Zutons and the Lightning Seeds supporting this was a great pre Christmas treat for the 20,000 who turned up at the Coop live to singalong. Apparently, like most of the rest of the crowd, we hadn't bought the new album but we knew the songs and Fish & Chip Supper and Silly Me were as much highlights as some of the earlier hits like Song For Whoever, Don't Marry Her and Sail This Ship Alone. Paul and the band were fantastic and he's clearly found another star in Rianne. Thanks to everyone and already looking forward to the Piece Hall, Halifax in July!
