About Open East Festival

Open East Festival – a weekend festival celebrating the first anniversary of the Olympics and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park opening to the public.

Join us for a two very special days in the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with an amazing line up of music, artists, performers and chefs in a packed weekend of entertainment, family activities, art and food.
 
The Barbican Music Stage presents a line up of international acts including The Waterboys, Amadou & Mariam, Ondatropica and special guests Robert Glasper and Dead Prez. Meanwhile on the Caught by the River stage catch performances from Wire, Viv Albertine, Stealing Sheep, The Rockingbirds, and DJ Don Letts.
 
Kids can explore The House of Fairy Tales and the Discover Children’s Centre in the Timber Lodge Café. Everyone can enjoy a bounce on the life-sized inflatable replica of Stonehenge by Turner Prize-winning artist, Jeremy Deller, an encounter with Joey the War Horse from the National Theatre’s internationally renowned production or the chance to discover a future masterpiece at the Art Car Boot Fair.
 
Graeae, the company behind last year’s Paralympic Opening Ceremony, present their outdoor theatre production The Iron Man and there will be exhilarating performances from Xtreme Action BMX, Boy Blue Entertainment and Pandemonium Drummers from last year’s Olympic Opening Ceremony.
 
Sample London’s best street food vendors with the Real Food Festival where Fish dogs, Bhangra burgers and Mamma’s Jerk chicken are all on the menu. Some of London’s best chefs are represented including Salt Yard, Blueprint Café, Hix and Cafe Spice Namaste. The Ten Mile Beer Festival offers beers from local breweries from with a 10 mile radius of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
 
Each day culminates in a finale delivered by Bompas & Parr, named in the Independent as “one of the fifteen people who will define the future of arts in Britain”, as the day draws to a close.
