Born in Camden, Ocean Wisdom – whose full name is Ocean Alexander Alouwishas Wisdom – grew up in London and Brighton. Inspired by the sounds of reggae and rap, he began beatboxing at the age of seven and was dedicated to writing lyrics daily by the time he was a teenager.
Using music to channel his energy, Ocean Wisdom released his debut single Walkin’ in 2014. That song garnered lots of attention due to his quick-paced delivery. Calculated to contain 4.45 words per second, Ocean Wisdom was once deemed the world’s fastest rapper.
His EP Splittin’ The Racket arrived in 2015, followed a year later by his debut studio album Chaos ’93, which further showcased his versatility.
It was Ocean Wisdom’s 2018 release, Wizville, that saw him break through on the hip hop scene. Peaking on the UK albums chart at No.39, the album boasted collaborations with the likes of Method Man, Dizzee Rascal and Roots Manuva.
In 2019, Ocean Wisdom set up his own label and unveiled Big Talk, Vol. 1. The sprawling 20-track project saw him join forces with Fatboy Slim on Fatboy, Akala on Risky and Freddie Gibbs on Isn’t It? It also featured Voices In My Head that proved Ocean Wisdom could tell a story.
His fourth full-length studio album Stay Sane came out on 26 March 2021. It also contained an array of collaborations including Uneven Lives with Maverick Sabre, Dragons with Kojey Radical, Hop Out with Tim Vocals and Mondeo with Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn.
To support the new album, Ocean Wisdom announced a seven-city UK tour in October 2021.
