About Nottingham Masters Tennis

The Nottingham Tennis Masters, promoted by Northern Vision, will feature some of tennis' most renowned names and entertainers including Ilie Natase, Mansour Bahrami and Peter McNamara who will take to Centre Court at Nottingham Tennis Centre for the four-day event, showcasing their legendary talent.

The complete field will be announced in the middle of March including several past Wimbledon Champions. This fantastic event will take place Thursday 11 - Sunday 14 June 2009.

Northern Vision, the organisers of the Nottingham Tennis Masters and Nottingham City Council have announced the line up of top players competing in this summer's tournament which takes place between 10 and 13 June at Nottingham Tennis Centre.

Headlining will be former Wimbledon champion and world number one Martina Hingis.  During her career, Martina has set many records, including the youngest player to win Wimbledon at the age of 15 and the Australian Open when she was 16.  She retired from playing competitive tennis in 2007 and will be showcasing her talents against other legendary stars.

Returning for the second year running is Richard Krajicek, who won the title at last year's tournament.  Richard's career has included triumphs such as Wimbledon and he has won a total of 17 singles and 3 doubles titles.  He retired from professional tennis in 2003 and set up the Richard Krajicek Foundation, which builds sports facilities for children in inner cities in the Netherlands.

Also confirmed are Mansour Bahrami, who performed for the crowds last summer with his trick shots and antics on court.   British star Jeremy Bates joins the line up for the first time, after a successful singles and doubles professional career.  Jeremy retired in 1996 after winning two grand slam mixed doubles titles and competing in 20 Davis Cup ties for Britain.

Anders Borg from Northern Vision who is the tournament director said: "I am delighted with the quality of the line up so far that we have secured for the Nottingham tournament.  The calibre of players is excellent and should mean that we have some great and entertaining tennis."

Councillor David Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Customers at Nottingham City Council said:
"This looks like a fantastic line up with a great mix of legendary players and household names ready to entertain.  We are thrilled to be hosting this tournament for the second year running, and hope it is a huge success!"

Tickets went on sale last week and are available from the Tourist Information Centre, Ticketmaster and Ticket Factory websites.  General tickets start at £18 (£12 for concessions). New corporate hospitality packages have also just been announced which start at £95.

There will be various activities going on throughout the tournament to provide additional entertainment and value for money.  The tournament kicks off on the Thursday with Legends singles and doubles exhibition matches whilst Friday is Ladies Day, with a fashion show and exclusive goodie bags for all guests.  Saturday is the semi-finals day and then Sunday, the day of the finals, will also be family day with entertainment for children and a barbeque plus special offers for family tickets and under-16s.
