Set against the backdrop of the Waterhouse building, the Ice Rink at the Natural History Museum is one of the most magical places to be this winter. Come along for a skate with family and friends for the ultimate festive treat.

Eat, skate and be merry at our Champagne on Ice New Year's Eve party at the Natural History Museum Ice Rink. Glide into 2020 with our extended skating sessions from 21.00-22.45 and 23.00-00.30 where you can skate to your heart's content. When you’re ready to swap your skates for your dancing shoes, there will be a complimentary glass of champagne waiting for you in the Café Bar and a DJ bringing the party all evening until 01.00.

Our Café Bar have a delicious selection of sharing food platters available to pre-order at the checkout. Choose from the following:

  • Fish platter: Goldstein’s salmon, smoked eel, sprats, haddock carpaccio, potato-dill salad and pickled cucumber-kohlrabi*
  • Meat platter: charcuterie, cornichons, caper berries and homemade pickles*
  • Vegetarian platter: roasted provencal vegetables, selection of artisan breads, beetroot hummus and smoked chilli jelly*

*Please note, each platter serves approximately 4 people and are only available from 6pm onwards on New Year’s Eve.

Calling all little skaters! The Penguin Skate Club is back for children aged 4-8 years old. Every Saturday morning from 4 – 17 November 2019 and 25 November – January 2020, get your little ones on the ice for a skating lesson with a dedicated penguin to help them on their way.


Christmas Party or Birthday Party? The Ice Rink is just the place. With a variety of food and drink offerings, along with exclusive hire of the rink, where could be better to celebrate the festive season?

After skating round the rink, why not add a little luxury to your visit? Hang up your coats and bags in the onsite cloakroom and then head up to our stylish café for a mulled wine or a well-earned slice of cake. Or if you want even more festive cheer, why not take a spin on our carousel? It is Christmas after all!


Our student offer returns, bigger and better this year. Running every Monday to Thursday from 19 October - 12 December 2019 and 6 January - 12 January 2020, with a valid NUS card, students can get a free drink along with their skating session.

The Café Bar is the ideal place to catch up with friends, soak up the atmosphere and watch the rink with a birds eye view from our balcony.
