About

Vocalist for Alter Bridge and Slash’s band as well as a successful solo artist

A self-confessed “music geek” with an affinity for many different styles and genres, Myles Kennedy (originally Myles Richard Bass) is known for his eloquent songcraft, thoughtful arrangements, dynamic guitar playing and extraordinary vocal range.

Born in Boston and raised in the Pacific Northwest, he studied music theory at Spokane Falls Community College. Kennedy spent the first half of the ’90s playing guitar with the bands Cosmic Dust and Citizen Swing, before founding The Mayfield Four, for which he also provided lead vocals. The alt rockers released two albums – Fallout and Second Skin – before splitting in 2002.

In late 2003, Kennedy was recruited to be part of a new band created by former Creed members Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall. Alter Bridge was officially launched in 2004 with the debut album One Day Remains and Kennedy has been with them ever since. Between 2007 and 2019, they released five chart-topping albums – four of which broke into the UK top 10.

Throughout his career, Kennedy has also been busy in the studio and making live appearances with other artists including the likes of Disturbed, Halestorm, Sevendust, Mark Morton and more.

Kennedy began working with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash in 2010, contributing to two tracks on his eponymous solo album and then serving as the vocalist when he went on tour. This led to three further collaborative albums credited as Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators: 2012’s Apocalypic Love, 2014’s World On Fire and 2018’s Living The Dream.

In 2018, Kennedy shifted away from hard rock with the release of his debut solo album Year Of The Tiger, which reached at No.12 on the UK albums chart. It evolved from his father’s death in 1974, after refusing to see doctors for appendicitis due to his Christian Science faith. Exploring anger and grief as well as searching for understanding, the nuanced concept album featured a variety of sounds from Americana and country to stripped-back blues.

As the world slipped into lockdown in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, Kennedy went to Spokane, where he started writing and recording demos in his home studio. After four months, he packed up his car – along with drummer Zia Uddin and bassist Tim Tournier – and drove more than 3,000 miles to Orlando to work with Alter Bridge’s longtime producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Coldrain, Chevelle). The result was his No.20-charting sophomore solo album, The Ides Of March, which arrived in May 2021.

A great night out for a gig. As avid fans of Myles Kennedy me and my son thoroughly enjoyed this gig. Myles Kennedy definitely rocked and his crew were so in tune with his singing. He's a true and genuine showman who knows how to draw and grab a crowd. COME BACK SOON MYLES!

  • Great artist poor venue

My sister is following Myles' carrier for few good years now. She absolutely loves Alter Bridge and she has been to every solo gig for each of Myles albums. This was her birthday gift and as much she enjoyed the show there was few things that could have been done better. The performance was amazing that man can sing and play guitar like genus but the venue let us down and I'd say it let Myles down. The way the sound was set up was terrible. We could here Myles sing apart from his acoustic set. I was disappointed not to be able to enjoy and appreciate this man amazing talent simply because sound guy did a poor job setting it up! Don't let me started at the overpriced drinks. To sum up Myles is amazing - O2 Academy in Birmingham is not.
