  • Stunts were amazing, too much chat though

by Annette on 26/09/2024OVO Hydro - GlasgowRating: 3 out of 5

The stunts by the monster trucks and the bikes were amazing but rather than a show it was a competition. Too much chat in between 2 mins of action. Grandson quickly became bored and wanted to go home by half time. Very noisy even with ear defenders on so definitely bring them for children.

  • Great atmosphere

Great show, wee boy loved it and enjoyed getting involved. Only downfall was we were last show so trucks kept breaking down

  • OK show

    by Loria07 on 25/09/2024Rating: 3 out of 5

We were at the furst show in Glasgow and every truck apart for 1 had to be towed off. Spiderman engine blew during the first round he got towed off and never came back out at all. Grave digger did a back flip which my son loved even though he didn't land it and ended up upside down. The hosts were always in the same area speaking to the kids they could of moved around more around the arena. It was a bit slow a lot of nothing happening a lot of the time. The pit party was good.

  • Monster jam Glasgow 22/09/24

by STP on 23/09/2024OVO Hydro - GlasgowRating: 3 out of 5

Attended the Sunday session of monster jam at the hydro, Glasgow. The most featured vehicle was the breakdown truck. Not sure if that's normal or not. Seemed to be a lot of mechanical issues and periods where nothing much happened. Some of it was entertaining, especially the motocross bikes.

  • Very disappointed

by Myself and D.S.M on 23/09/2024OVO Hydro - GlasgowRating: 2 out of 5

Waiting around for most of the show. It was as if they shared a gallon of petrol between them. Most of them broke down during the show. One flip in the whole show. That picture you have up there with El Toro doing a twisted flip is also false advertising as that doesn't happen. Never again. The power and the sound of the cars when they momentarily moved was quite exciting I suppose.

  • Monster trucks

by Ape on 23/09/2024OVO Hydro - GlasgowRating: 4 out of 5

Well, wasn't really impressed with the whole show, there wasn't enough of the truck tricks and to much talking in between tricks, there was trial bike tricks which really was good but didn't come to see them, the sound of the acoustic system was poor as there was a lot of feedback which could have been sorted prior to the show. On a positive note the staff of the OVO were excellent as we had an 88 year old with us and we're very accommodating for her. Last note seen the show, got the t-shirt won't be doing it again. O" parking was atrocious all that space around the OVO but had to park away from the event and very costly.

  • A great day out for the family!

    by P3EPS on 23/09/2024OVO Hydro - GlasgowRating: 4 out of 5

My 5 year old son is a monster truck fanatic and has a whole collection of Monster Jam (and Hot Wheels) trucks in various shapes and sizes. I'm in Aberdeen, but when I saw Monster Jam was coming to Glasgow, I thought I must get tickets. I got the best seats I could through the FELD pre-sale, and also the pit lane party. 2 adults, 2 kids - £330. We booked a hotel near the OVO, and drove down the day before. The Pit Party was brilliant. We managed to get photos / signatures with 5 out of the 6 drivers, but would have needed another 45 mins to get to Matt Cody / Gravedigger as his line was huge. We did get a pic of Gravedigger with my son next to it though! Merch prices were pretty steep - £15 for a programme, £35 for a 1:24 toy truck that I could buy on Amazon for £10, and £30 for a baseball cap. £15 to get a Monster Jam driving licence made up. They know they've got you... and there's not a lot you can do about it! Clearly, the 'Ramped Up' format is a way to get the trucks in an arena that's not their 'natural environment'. These things are meant to be jumping in dirt in huge stadiums, not a slidey concrete floor inside a relatively small concert hall. It actually worked though! The show was divided into sections where we could score the trucks / drivers. A race (1 lap round the arena floor), 2 wheel challenge, donut challenge and freestyle. The race lasted about 30 seconds per heat and the 2 wheel challenge lasted anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes depending on the drivers skill. After this, it was half time and they took out a large kicker and had MX bikes jumping to pad the show out a bit. The second half started with the donut challenge. I don't know if the drivers were warned about the length of their donuts due to it being indoors as they were all about 10-15 seconds each max. I've seen them going on dirt for way longer... but with the smell and smoke indoors, I guess they had to tone it down. The freestyle was the bit everyone was waiting for where we expect to see big jumps and stunts... but each driver only got 1 minute to showcase their truck. Out of the 6 trucks, 3 of them 'died' half way through the freestyle and never completed their full minute. Gravedigger saved the show by landing an amazing backflip at the end. Gravedigger and Black Panther were the only 2 trucks that weren't towed away by a huge JCB at some point to be repaired. Maybe that was the downside to going to the last show - tired trucks - but I thought they'd have been resilient enough to handle what was thrown at them. Each truck was probably driven for less than 10 minutes during the show, and out of the 2 and a half hour show, there was probably about 40 mins of trucks, and the rest was padding. We had great seats, and thoroughly enjoyed the show. A long day being there for the Pit Party at 10.30 - 12.00, then the show from 13.00 - 15.30... then the 2 1/2 hour drive back to Aberdeen... but it was worth it for the smiles on my sons face. Even my 9 year old daughter enjoyed it - especially when she realised Thor was driven by a young blonde lady! Myranda Cozad made her day by signing her programme and Monster Jam driving licence - and writing 'girl power' on it! I'll be looking out for the next Monster Jam event in Scotland... but would love to see it outdoors where they're not so restricted.

  • Show was ok.

by Ken on 23/09/2024OVO Hydro - GlasgowRating: 3 out of 5

Show was ok, motorbike show was awesome. Arena was just far too small. The trucks couldn't demonstrate what they could do in such a small space. But my children enjoyed it.

  • No cash sales for merchandise

by Angry dad on 22/09/2024OVO Hydro - GlasgowRating: 1 out of 5

Won't be back to ovo hydro I took my 7 yo son to his first show (monster jam) this was a big deal for him with all the noise, lights and people around him! We waited in line for merchandise for around 15/20 mins to be told they only accept card payments. I only had cash on me like I always do. My child was understandably upset at not being able to get a drink , food, magazine or any merchandise whatsoever!! When I asked why it was card payment only no one could answer my question??? This ruined my child's first time at a show!! He was soooo excited to get a mask and a novelty mug but no my son had to go without because of no cash payments ? I'm sorry but do we live in a cashless society ? No we don't I will never return to anything in ovo hydro unless that changes. This was a really awful experience for my son who has sensory autism. How do I expect my child to fully understand why his dads money was no good to buy him a present to remind him of his day out with his family to the "monster trucks " show. I'm not done complaining I want to hear from manager or some sort of management about this experience My child will never be disappointed at a show again I'm absolutely fuming about this

  • Big, noisy fun!

by Ali on 22/09/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Monster Jam Ramped Up is seriously fun for all the family. We had the best time. My 3 year old and 8 year old both absolutely loved it. It was loud, but we'd come prepared with ear defenders. The voting element made it even more fun. We loved voting for our favourites. The tricks in the freestyle section were out of this world. El Toro Loco's flip into a two wheeled handstand was just amazing. We all cheered so loud! The motorbike stunt team at the interval were amazing. Their tricks were phenomenal! Tickets to the Pit Party before we're definitely worth it - we got to meet all the drivers and see all of the trucks close up. The drivers and crews were all so friendly. It really made the event a whole lot more special for us all. Getting to watch them change a wheel on one of the trucks was also fascinating. We will 100% go again when it comes back to the UK.
