About Matisyahu

Matisyahu is the Hebrew and stage name of reggae vocalist, beatboxer and alt-rock musician Matthew Paul Miller. His nickname is the Hasidic Reggae Superstar.

He was launched into stardom with the 2005 release of Live at Stubbs, which became a gold record, and its single, King without a Crown, which reached No.1 on the alternative rock radio charts. Matisyahu’s follow-up album Youth, released in 2006, received a Grammy nomination.

A few years ago, Matisyahu formed a band that gives itself over to the music on par with his lyrical desire to connect to something beyond the self. His band features original Stubbs guitarist Aaron Dugan, Dub Trio bassist Stu Brooks, percussionist and Cyro Baptista go-to-drummer Tim Keiper, and Addison Groove Project founder Rob Marscher. No two performances of a song are alike. At its most exultant moments the music becomes full-band improvisation.

In May 2017, Matisyahu released Undercurrent, his sixth studio album, on CD with an eight-page comic book based on the album art.
