The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is inclusive and welcoming to all. Our building is fully accessible and we provide a wide variety of accessible performances, classes and activities.

The Lyric is fully equipped with elevators to our two theatres, the Main House and Studio, and to the Reuben Foundation Wing, where most of our classes and activities take place.

The Lyric has a range of toilet facilities available including all-gender, gender specific and private accessible toilets in our café, on the Stalls level and on our balcony level near the creative space. We also have a baby change facility and accessible toilet on our first floor near the entrance to the Reuben Foundation Wing.

Getting to the Lyric:

All of Hammersmith’s Underground lines (District, Piccadilly, Circle and Hammersmith and City) have good wheelchair access. We are about 200 yards from all tube stations and the Broadway bus station with the route being level access.

The nearest disabled parking spaces to the Lyric are in the King’s Mall shopping centre car park on Level 6 and 7. Leave the carpark by the Beadon Road exit and turn right, Lyric Square is a short walk from there.

Accessible Classes:

We offer integrated or specialist classes for 11 – 25 year olds, run in collaboration with Young Lyric Partners Dance West, Action on Disability, Turtle Key Arts and Amici Dance Theatre. By becoming a member of Young Lyric you can take part in Move it Mondays (Dance West), Young Amici (Amici Dance Theatre), Journeys (Lyric with Action on Disability), Key Club (Turtle Key Arts) and Friday Club (Action on Disability). Accessible Theatre:

All our main house productions have Audio Described and Open Captioned performances and also BSL and Relaxed performances for some shows. We have available wheelchair and transfer seats for all our shows. If you’re coming to see a show and have specific access requirements, please contact us in advance so that we can make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

For all our productions, we offer one complimentary carer/companion seat for every full price access ticket booked.

Access Performances:

Audio Described Performances provide a live verbal commentary of the visual elements of a production. This service may be useful for people who are blind, visually impaired or partially sighted. Before each audio described performance we also provide a touch tour, giving an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the set and costumes before the show. Guide dogs are welcome in the building.

Open Captioned Performances, these are similar to television subtitles. The actors’ words appear on a display unit, at the same time as they are spoken or sung. This service may be useful for people who are D/deaf, deafened or hard of hearing.

BSL interpreted performances are offered for certain shows. When booking your tickets, please mention that you will be using this service so we are able to allocate you seats with a clear view of the signer.

Audio enhancement systems are provided in both of our theatres, and this system is compatible with your own wired earphones or headphones. Just ask a member of our friendly Visitor Experience team for a hearing device when you arrive.

Relaxed performances are specifically planned and programmed to welcome guests who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including guests on the Autistic Spectrum, guests with sensory and communication needs or parents who want to attend our performances with young children.

Chilled performances are similar to relaxed performances with the difference that no changes are made to the content of the show itself. They are suitable for anyone who might need to make a noise or ask a question to their companion during a show, older people who are experiencing dementia or Alzheimer’s, those who may be nervous about being in a traditional theatre environment, parents/carers with babes-in-arms or very young children.
