About

The UK's favourite parody garage crew

West London pirate radio station Kurupt FM is the focus of the BBC Three mockumentary series People Just Do Nothing, which was first broadcast in the UK in 2014.

The fictional station is led by self-proclaimed garage legend MC Grindah and his second-in-command, DJ Beats, who is the best DJ in the West London area. They and the rest of the Kurupt FM crew – Chabuddy (a failed local entrepreneur), Steves (head of security who lives and sleeps at the station) and DJs Decoy and Fantasy – are trying to chase their dreams, which essentially becomes their full-time job.

In March 2017, the Kurupt FM crew appeared alongside Ed Sheeran in a spoof music video for Comic Relief, while the series People Just Do Nothing won a BAFTA and a Royal Television Society award for Best Scripted Comedy.

The show's fifth series aired in 2018 followed by a sitcom-podcast, called the Kurupt FM Podkast, in 2019.

In summer 2021, Kurupt FM unveiled a pair of collaborations – Summertime with Craig David and Dreaming with Jaykae and MIST – followed by The Greatest Hits (Part 1) album. A film adaptation and warmly funny spinoff titled People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan was also released in August.

In addition to the music, TV and film, actors Allan “Seapa” Mustafa, Steve Stamp, Asim Chaudhry, Hugo Chegwin, Marvin Jay Alvarez and Daniel Sylvester Woolford go out on tour as a musical act, completely in their Kurupt FM personas. Over the years they’ve played clubs and venues around the UK as well as summer festivals like Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds.
