Celebrating 20 years of the Kaiser Chiefs
In March 2005, the Kaiser Chiefs released their debut album Employment, which became a landmark in British indie music. The seven-times Platinum and multi-award-winning album is the best-selling record from a Leeds artist, with iconic hits like “I Predict A Riot” and “Oh My God” becoming anthems for Leeds and deeply embedded in the city’s culture, life, and football.
Twenty years after its release, Employment remains beloved, and in 2025, the band is celebrating its legacy with a special tour. This includes a monumental hometown show at Leeds’ Temple Newsam Park on Saturday, May 31st. Joining the Kaiser Chiefs will be mid-2000s legends: Razorlight, marking the 20th anniversary of Up All Night, local icons The Cribs celebrating The New Fellas, The Coral from Merseyside, and US indie favorites We Are Scientists with their debut With Love And Squalor. To honor both the past and the future of indie, rising stars HotWax and West Yorkshire’s Ellur will open the day.
In the band’s words: “20 years ago, a brand new song by a brand new band was released. I Predict A Riot was the start of something really special for some musicians from Leeds. And the album that followed, Employment, changed our lives and has soundtracked the lives of millions of others since 2005. In 2025 we are saluting 20 years of that album, and everyone is invited. Come celebrate the 2000’s, loving everything less & less, and stripey blazers taking over the world. See you all next year.”
The tour will include stops in Leeds, Edinburgh, London.

Great Gig Great Showman in Ricky Wilson Razorlight class too, Both Bands still got it
Great access, great venue, well organised, food overpriced but when is it not. Sound quality at the top of the hill was abysmal. I've been to pub bands who have had better sound quality! Needed speakers at the back of the area guests were situated. Spoiled the event for us
Temple Newsome was easy to park at and security was fast and efficient to clear :) Unfortunately, the sound quality of the bands was terrible. Not sure I would go to this venue again.
A good experience overall nice and easy to get in and out of the venue music was on point. Only really negative was the price of food and drinks for a 9hr concert
Was so busy, felt over sold and we didn't enjoy the venue at all. Music good.
The quality off the sound was poor / razor light was a bit better. But generally poor Crazy you can't take picnic blanket or some chairs it's a long day when you can't be comfortable as only can sit on grass
Great friendly atmosphere, facilities easy accessible overall enjoyable evening and great music
They were good but could not see anything even right at the back. Usually can see as stages are higher
Kaiser Chiefs were fantastic, even though Ricky was unwell, he pushed through and will probably pay the price, but it was a really good gig. I hope to see them again with Ricky in full voice. The venue has a great sound to it. Could not find a water filling station and a can of water at £2.50 is outrageous. But I still had an awesome time. Value for money on the tickets was great. Let's hope there are more of these events in Southampton.
Nice and local for us and a good time easy access to our tickets and parking with a short walk, staff were good and even allowed my little boy to stand up next to the railing on the access up to the seated area so he could see the whole thing he was so happy we had an amazing night and they were fab even with the lead singer very sore throat he put on a great show would definitely attend again just tge right amount of people too felt like an intermate gig.
