Celebrating 20 years of the Kaiser Chiefs
In March 2005, the Kaiser Chiefs released their debut album Employment, which became a landmark in British indie music. The seven-times Platinum and multi-award-winning album is the best-selling record from a Leeds artist, with iconic hits like “I Predict A Riot” and “Oh My God” becoming anthems for Leeds and deeply embedded in the city’s culture, life, and football.
Twenty years after its release, Employment remains beloved, and in 2025, the band is celebrating its legacy with a special tour. This includes a monumental hometown show at Leeds’ Temple Newsam Park on Saturday, May 31st. Joining the Kaiser Chiefs will be mid-2000s legends: Razorlight, marking the 20th anniversary of Up All Night, local icons The Cribs celebrating The New Fellas, The Coral from Merseyside, and US indie favorites We Are Scientists with their debut With Love And Squalor. To honor both the past and the future of indie, rising stars HotWax and West Yorkshire’s Ellur will open the day.
In the band’s words: “20 years ago, a brand new song by a brand new band was released. I Predict A Riot was the start of something really special for some musicians from Leeds. And the album that followed, Employment, changed our lives and has soundtracked the lives of millions of others since 2005. In 2025 we are saluting 20 years of that album, and everyone is invited. Come celebrate the 2000’s, loving everything less & less, and stripey blazers taking over the world. See you all next year.”
The tour will include stops in Leeds, Edinburgh, London.
Ahead of a slew of forthcoming live shows, we celebrate 20 years of the debut album that put Kaiser Chiefs on the map

Kaiser Chiefs were fantastic, even though Ricky was unwell, he pushed through and will probably pay the price, but it was a really good gig. I hope to see them again with Ricky in full voice. The venue has a great sound to it. Could not find a water filling station and a can of water at £2.50 is outrageous. But I still had an awesome time. Value for money on the tickets was great. Let's hope there are more of these events in Southampton.
Nice and local for us and a good time easy access to our tickets and parking with a short walk, staff were good and even allowed my little boy to stand up next to the railing on the access up to the seated area so he could see the whole thing he was so happy we had an amazing night and they were fab even with the lead singer very sore throat he put on a great show would definitely attend again just tge right amount of people too felt like an intermate gig.
Although he had a bad voice on the night, the concert was not long enough in my view
Excellent venue great facilities brilliant support bands a fun filled experience
I feel this event was a complete waste of £120 plus travel. The atmosphere was rubbish, security thought they were marshalling Wembley. Kaiser chiefs were alright but the sound system was dreadful, couldn't hear clearly towards the back. And couldn't really see much due to lack of screen. I definitely wouldn't choose an event like this again.
The event was brilliant. Very well organised and the bands were great. Food and drink reasonably priced. It's a shame there wasn't enough Kaiser chief merchandise but all in all a great night
The acts were great sadly the access in was very poor changes had clearly been made the obvious accessible entrance wasn't used neither were existing footpaths meaning cobbles were a major obstacle for access which could easily have been solved. The access platform position was extremely poor for 20% of the users and non existent for the other 80%. The pathway was blocked so no leaving early should we need or want to, one not really accessible toilet and ramps for the platform covered with cables and cable covering. Not thought to the platform re QR code prize and the welfare area and area to the west which was clear and could of been used was fenced off to the accessible area all that was needed was temp flooring and exit the platform to the right instead of the left. The screen used for the event wasn't vis able either. Personally I think every accessible person deserves a full refund and apology! This specifically rates to the Lincoln Castle Live events and doesn't reflect the acts.
Llangollen pavilion was the perfect local venue for us & Kaiser Chiefs did it proud as always. The whole of Llangollen was rocked by this amazing band lead by Ricky Wilson they gave maximum effort from start to finish & they crowd including us showed our appreciation by being the backing singers all night!!!! We thank you right back guys ❤️
Kaiser Chiefs are just amazing to see live & leave you feeling that was worth every penny. Their whole performance from start to finish is pure energy & exhausting to watch. Fair play they couldn't give their audience any mire of themselves. This was our third time of seeing them & it was great to see them so close to our home in quite an up close & intimate setting compared to Lytham where we saw them last. Thank you is all I can say !!!!
