Grammy Award winner JoJo returns to the UK

Pop sensation JoJo – the youngest artist to top the US charts – has announced she’s returning to the UK in 2025.

It’s been nearly 20 years since Joanna Noelle Blagden Levesque burst onto the pop music scene as JoJo with the moody teen heartbreak song, Leave (Get Out). The singer and actress has gone from teen sensation to R&B powerhouse, reinventing herself and her music along the way.

Born in Vermont but growing up in Massachusetts, JoJo’s love of singing was the result of listening to her own mother practicing hymns at home. A member of her church choir and trained in musical theatre, JoJo’s mother Diana not only inspired her to find her voice but inspired her stage name.

It was at the age of seven when JoJo had her first taste of stardom appearing on the TV show Kids Say the Darndest Things: On The Road in Boston hosted by Bill Cosby, performing a song by Cher. She went on to perform on shows like Maury and The Oprah Winfrey Show all before she hit her teenage years. Her performance on America’s Most Talented Kids drew the attention of producer Vincent Herbert who had worked with the likes of Aaliyah, Toni Braxton and Destiny’s Child. The attention landed JoJo a deal with Blackground Records and by 2004, the singer had released her debut self-titled album.

JoJo’s first album featured the hit single Leave (Get Out) which topped the the Billboard Pop charts making her the youngest artist in history to do so at the age of 13. It also made it to No.2 in the UK Singles chart, reaching the top spots in countries like Scotland, Canada and Australia.

In 2006, JoJo returned with her sophomore album, The High Road, and another chart-topping single, Too Little Too Late. The single broke records by jumping from the No.66 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 to the No.3 spot in just one week. It topped the UK R&B charts and performed well elsewhere. After the release of The High Road in 2006, JoJo became tangled up in contractual disputes with her label, Da Family Entertainment which lasted well into 2009. During that period, JoJo also worked on songs with Timbaland and Jet and joined the tours of other artists like Joe Jonas, Jay Sean, and Big Time Rush.

Despite the delay with her album, JoJo returned in 2012 with the mixtape, Agape, and headed out on her own headlining tour. A year later, JoJo was finally released from the contractual delays that had held up the release of her album. The artist said the delay caused “irreparable damage” to her career before signing a new deal with Atlantic Records.

With a new label behind her, JoJo release three EPs in 2015 alone; #LoveJo, III and #LoveJo2. JoJo’s third LP, Mad Love, was eventually released in 2016 and featured collaborations with Alessia Cara, Remy Ma, Wiz Khalifa. The album climbed to the No.6 spot on the Billboard 200. Joining Fifth Harmony on their tour in 2016, JoJo eventually announced the Mad Love Tour in 2017, a four-month tour of North America and Europe.

Later that year, JoJo left Atlantic Records and launched her own imprint with Interscope Records. From there, the artist re-released her debut and sophomore albums, including some of her biggest hits adding new vocals and artwork.

In 2020, JoJo released her fourth studio album, Good To Know, including tracks Man, Lonely Hearts and Comeback. After making it to the final on the fifth season of The Masked Singer, JoJo released the single Creature of Habit and the capsule project, Trying Not To Think About It. The release further explored JoJo's mental health struggles with depression and anxiety.

With her memoir, Over The Influence, released into the world at the tail end of 2024 alongside new music in single 'Ready To Love', the pop phenomenon announced a handful of 2025 concerts for her UK fans at the O2 Institute Birmingham and Manchester's Albert Hall.
