About J-Lo

Jennifer Lopez is a singer, actor, dancer and all-round entertainment diva, famed for her killer curves, Latina beats and demanding entourage. Her singing career began in college, with just one semester in Manhattan's Baruch College before she dropped out to pursue her singing and dancing dreams full time. Her big break was in the Janet Jackson That's The Way Love Goes video, in which Lopez appeared as a backing dancer in 1993. Roles in TV followed over the next couple of years and she was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1997 for her role in Selena.

Further films followed as her profile grew, along with a modelling contract for L'Oreal, and by the time Sony Records approached her for a deal, she was ready to move across into the music business, with her first album release, On The 6 released in 1999 and straight for the US Top 10. It also earned her a first Grammy nomination and two Latin Grammy nominations for Best Dance Recording. Her music includes R&B, pop, Latino and dance influences and she has cited Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Madonna and James Brown as influences. During this album's making, Lopez met Sean Coombs who co-produced the album. In 2001 she released her second self-titled album, J-Lo, which went to No. 1, and spawned an album of remixes which also went to the top spot. Her third album was This is Me...Then, from which the hit single Jenny from the Block was released.

After a short break from her music career, Lopez released Rebirth, her fourth album, in 2005. It went straight to number two, and followed with a Spanish language album, Como Ama Una Mujer in 2007, which was produced by Marc Antony, and went straight to No. 1. Over the next couple of years she appeared in more films, launched her own production company and product line, and became a true multi-media star, before joining American Idol's judging panel.

That same year she moved away from Epic Records and Sony and signed up to Island Def Jam, before releasing hit single On the Floor with Pitbull, which went to the top of the UK charts, and came from studio album release Love? in 2011. She has toured the world and won multiple awards including the MTV Video Music Awards for Best Hip Hop/Electronic Dance Music Videos, as well as American Music Awards, MTV Europe Awards and more, and her career goes from strength to strength as her creative talents and one-woman empire continues to evolve.
